~Back In The Game~

~Chapter Sixteen~

-Last Time-

"Don't worry sensei," you say causing him to look at you. "You'll find one. I believe in you!" you say with a smile before happily running toward Tanaka, Kageyama, and Hinata who are happily chatting. Takeda watches you before softly speaking.

"Thank you, Miss (L/N). Thank you for helping the team."

As you are heading back to the gym, after using the bathroom, you go to turn a corner but you stop when you hear voices.

"Kindaichi." A voice that sounds like Kageyama says. He begins to say something else but gets interrupted,

"DON'T APOLOGIZE TO ME!!" Kindaichi yells. "And I'm not going to apologize!"

"Okay," Kageyama says plainly.

"You're always going to be the tyrannical King, a royal jerk, and the one I want to beat more than anyone else!"

"Okay."

"We weren't friends in the first place, and we never will be!"

"Okay."

"And the next time our teams face each other, we will win!"

Suddenly you see Hinata coming toward the duo while singing a song about "potty time" and him being the ace. You try to get his attention while trying to stay hidden. It doesn't work. He turns the corner as you sigh. When her sees the duo he immediately stops singing before hiding behind the corner. You facepalm when you see his bright orange hair peaking out.

"Kindaichi." Kageyama begins. "Next time our teams play, we're going to win again." He finishes confidently. A proud smile makes its way onto your face. You hear someone walking away so you peek around the corner to see that it's Kageyama walking toward Hinata, who still hasn't noticed you. You quickly hide behind a nearby trashcan. As soon as your teammates walk away you get up to follow them until you stop. A new voice is heard talking to Kindaichi. "What. Did you two talk?" He asks. There's a short silence before Kindaichi speaks.

"Kageyama said we."

"Huh?"

"Dammit...why does this bother me so much?"

"I think I can answer that." You say walking into view, which surprises the two. Without waiting for their responses, you continue to speak. "He's changing. And you don't like it because a part of you knows that means he'll be stronger."

"What do you mean? He'll never stop being a tyrant!" Kindaichi says defensively.

"Your team has great communication, doesn't it?"

"Yea..." The other boy says hesitantly.

"And if it's because of your ace or your "pinch server"..." You say while doing finger quotes and making it a point to show that you fingered them out. "...doesn't matter. You guys are a top-four team for a reason." They look at you with confusion, wondering where this is going, "But with Kageyama "changing", our team will soon surpass yours. As Kageyama continues to communicate with his teammates and learns to trust them, he will be an unstoppable force. And I can't wait to see your faces when it happens." You end with a smirk. Upon seeing their stunned expressions you turn to leave and begin walking away.

"Oh!" You exclaim, stopping, and walking up to Kindaichi. You stop right in front of him. "If you ever try to scare Hinata, or any other member of my team again, you'll be very sorry." You say threateningly. "Got it?"

"G-Got it." He says nervously while nodding. You look into his eyes for a second before continuing on your way back to the gym. "By the way, you should probably reflect on how you treated Kageyama and make sure you don't treat anyone else that way." With that, you round the corner to go to the gym as you're walking part of your speech replays in your head.
