The sun rose on the horizon. On a ship on the edge of town, a woman woke up and got ready. She started to tinker with the disk that allowed her son to train with holographic simulations of Kisasi soldiers, in order to improve his fighting ability.
As she was finishing calibrating the device for usage later, she heard a knock at the side entrance of the ship. She got up from her seat and made her way over to see who it was.
The doors slid open, revealing two men dressed up in Navy-colored uniforms. Wes and Eric respectively. "Can I help you two?" She asked.
"Yes, we'd like to talk to you about your son." Eric replied.
"Ono, go to bed." Spoke a man with similarly pale skin and a somewhat familiar shade of orange hair.
It was late into the night. Almost midnight in fact. The residents of the nearby homes were all fast asleep. All except for one boy. As he continued to tinker with his drone. "I'm so close dad!" Ono responded to his father.
"You're not even in the program anymore!" He said, walking over to turn off the room's light.
"But Mom-"
The man cut him off. "Look, you need to rest, your project will be there in the morning, alright?"
Ono reluctantly glanced back at the drone. Knowing there was no use convincing his father otherwise, he put down the parts he was holding, and walked over to his bed. "Good night!" His father said, turning off the room's light, before walking out of the room.
It had been just a few weeks ever since everyone had to evacuate to a new system, due to the threat of the Kisasi. However, something that was out of the ordinary for Ono, was the fact that everyone around him was acting like his mother didn't even exist, as they would try to change the subject whenever she was brought up.
Not knowing when she could be back, Ono felt the need to continue the projects she had assigned to him, to show her once she did come back. Once he knew his dad was asleep, he snuck out of bed, and went back over to his desk.
He picked up his tools, and turned on the nearby lamp, and continued to work.
"What is there to discuss?" The woman said to the men, sitting down at the ship's dining table. "He's intellectually gifted, sure, but he had no problem when it came to his emotions."
"So, there's nothing that you might see as a red flag in your son?" Wes questioned.
The woman shook her head. "I'm sorry, but, no. He's just fine as far as I'm concerned."
Wes and Eric glanced at each other, before looking back at the woman. "Well in that case, we'll be heading out. Thank you for your time." Eric thanked, as he and Wes stood up and began to exit the ship.
However as they were leaving, they didn't see a small device attached to one of their data pad's.
Ono was up bright and early this morning. It had been a while since he was actually on the ship, aside from when it was time for him to go to sleep. He walked into the kitchen to grab a quick bite to eat, before making his way to the living area.
The rest of the group seemed to be out and about, doing their own things. He walked around, having the slight feeling that something was off. However something quickly caught his glance once his focus shifted over to the room's control console.
