"What do you think that's about?" I ask Travis as I lean against the front desk. Travis looks at Vic who's arguing on the phone then to me and just shrugs looking back at her.
"Don't both of you" Vic points at us walking closer "we didn't say anything" travis covers
"umm, you wanna tell me why men are such babies?" Vic asks dropping her phone on the desk. "Ohh. Question for the ages, Mm, maybe you'll find the answer, uh, if you take over for my phone shift please" travis whines
"oh no no no your not gonna do it to day. I already put in my phone time and uh now I gotta go entertain some kids" she says walking backwards
"vic" travis yells "your a baby men are babies" she yells.
"I can't - I can't do this" he whispers "yeah you can good luck big boy" I say patting him on the the back the walking of. I walk into the kitchen and instantly hear
"this baby needs chili" I'm guessing that was jj which also means Dean's special chili I walk around the island
"aww shes like a tiny little monster" jack says "with another little monster in her that's about to pop out any second" I say grabbing a spoon to try the chili and it's perfect
"dean this is amazing like always" I say "are you excited" jack asks "it's not the first word that comes to mind" dean says while he pours some chili in a bowl
"eager" jack suggests "enthusiastic?" I suggest "exhilarated?" Jack says but gets cut of
"terrified, I'm terrified" dean says. Then jj and dean start disagreeing then I hear I popped I flip my head around
"right now I just popped" jj says "oh! Oh!" Dean yells
"oh God uh, were gonna have a baby".
"Excuse me" I hear I look down to see a little girl around 5 years old looking at me, I kneel down to her "are you a firefighter" she asks really sweetly
"yes I am, my names Salem, what's are yours?" I ask "layla but I thought you had to be a boy to be a firefighter" she says sadly and it honestly breaks my heart
"no anyone can be a firefighter" I say and her face instantly lights up "could I be a firefighter?" She asks
"of course is that something you want to be?" I asks her and she nods "well in that case do you want to come see some cool stuff?" I ask her and she nods super fast.
"So this my helmet wanna wear it" I ask still in my little kid voice. "Um yes please" she says very excitedly. I lean over and place it on her head it stays up for the span of five seconds and then falls and covers her eyes. I let out a laugh and re-adjust it to fit
"hey why don't we go find your parents now I bet they will be looking everywhere for you?" I ask
"they aren't here" she says shaking her head "How'd you get here then?" I ask confused a bit "the thoster people" she says
"do you mean foster?" I ask taking the helmet off her and hanging it up "yup them and the other kids" she says smiling and my heart breaks again. Then I hear her stomach rumble
"are you hungry?" I ask, she nods so I grab her hand and guide her to the kitchen no one else is in here so I pick her up and sit her on the counter
"What do you like we have..." I trail of looking in the fridge "we got fruit, Peanut butter and jelly sandwich-" I get cut of
"yes yes yesss I love peanut butter and jelly" she says very excitedly. I grab out all the ingredients and start making the sandwich, once I finish it I place it on the table and she instantly starts eating like she hasn't eaten anything in days. I walk back over to the fridge and grab my monster, when I shut it I almost have a heart attack when I see maya standing there
