I Sat on the floor of my living room holding my daughter up on her feet to keep her balance.
" 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐚, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲! " My wife Y/n encourages
She sat across from me as we try to get our daughter to take her first steps. We already set up the camera just in case but it's not looking promising.
" 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐈 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 " I said disappointed
She nods her head agreeing, we get up from the floor and make our way to the couch
" 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲'𝐬 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐬𝐡𝐞'𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐲 " I smile at her words, pecking her lips softly as we put on a random movie to watch
We spent the rest of our day mostly chilling on the couch, only getting up to put our daughter down for her nap.

Around dinner time I got up from the couch and started making a simple quick meal. After I finished Katy helped me set up the table before we sat down to eat, I multitasked feeding Daisy and myself.
" 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧? " Katy asked out of the bloom
" 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭?! 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲?! " I questioned
" 𝑵𝒐! 𝐧𝐨 𝐧𝐨 *𝒍𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒔*, 𝐈'𝐦 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 " She clarifies
I sigh as a sense of relief feels my body, don't get me wrong I love our daughter but I'm not ready for another one yet.
" 𝑶𝒉! 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐡 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲'𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 " I stroke her hand with my thumb sending comfort and warmth through her body
After dinner we went back to the living room floor, setting up the camera to catch the possible milestone of our baby.
" 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐲, 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚! " I encourage in a baby voice but only receiving a giggle from her
Katy held her up slightly pushing her forward making sure not to annoy her, we don't ever want to make her do something she doesn't want to.
After some time we realized it wasn't working, Katy was giving up and getting frustrated because she really wanted to experience this moment since she's always out and not home for a long time. She's scared of missing these memories.
" 𝐎𝐤𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 " I say as I see the look of giving up written all over her face
" 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭? " She asked curiously
" 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫 " She hands me Daisy, as I hold her up on the floor for balance
" 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫- "
" 𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 " I responded
" 𝐎𝐤𝐚𝐲... 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐚, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐞
𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲! "
What we thought would never happen finally happened. Our baby took her first steps! The pure joy on our faces was priceless and although maybe people who aren't parents might think we look stupid over a baby taking two steps it's still a tearful moment for us and I'm glad Katy got to experience it in person instead of on a screen miles away from us.
An excited Katy viciously pecks my lip before attacking our daughter with tickles causing small giggles to escape her lips. This is truly a milestone to remember.
