It had been a few months since Caroline and Alex returned from their honeymoon, and they were settling into married life. Caroline had started a new job at a marketing agency, and Alex had taken on more responsibilities at his architecture firm.

One evening, as they sat on their balcony, sipping wine and enjoying the view of the city, Caroline turned to Alex and said, "I've been thinking. I want to start trying for a baby."

Alex looked at her, surprised but happy. "Really?" he said. "I'd love that. Are you sure you're ready?"

Caroline nodded. "I am. I know that having a baby will change our lives, but I think we're ready for the next step."

Over the next few weeks, Caroline and Alex started preparing for their new arrival. They converted their spare room into a nursery, painted the walls a soft shade of blue, and started buying baby clothes and toys.

As they waited for Caroline to get pregnant, they continued to live their lives to the fullest. They went on weekend trips, tried new restaurants, and explored all that the city had to offer.

Finally, after a few months, Caroline discovered that she was pregnant. They were both overjoyed and couldn't wait to meet their little one.

As Caroline's pregnancy progressed, they started attending birthing classes and reading books about parenting. They talked about their hopes and fears, and tried to prepare as much as possible for their new life as parents.

One evening, as they sat on the couch, watching TV and feeling Caroline's belly, Alex said, "I love you so much. I can't wait to see you as a mother."

Caroline smiled, feeling a surge of emotion. "I love you too. And I can't wait to see you as a father."

As they snuggled up together, imagining their future as a family of three, Caroline felt a sense of peace and contentment. She knew that their lives were about to change in ways they couldn't imagine, but she was excited for the journey ahead.
