"What is it? Just give it to me straight, no chaser. I can tell by your body language and facial expression that it's pretty serious."

"That's because it is," Megan sighed and grabbed Normani's hand, interlocking their fingers. "I think it's best if you sit down."

Normani's heart dropped at the heaviness in her lover's voice. Her palms began to sweat and her heart palpitate due to the uncertainty of what Megan would say next. The woman was acting as if she wanted to break things off with Normani, which couldn't have been the case. Their date went really well and both of them seemed to be very committed, albeit in different ways. Megan was focused on bettering herself so that she and Normani's relationship could blossom into a marriage in the future. Normani on the other hand, was more near-sighted. She wanted to be in a committed relationship sooner rather than later. But they had reached a compromise, so their differing views couldn't have been the crux of the issue.

If not an unofficial break up, then what could be the problem?

Megan led Normani to the couch and they both sat down. Normani eyed Megan expectantly while Megan fidgeted with her fingers.

"Baby," Normani took Megan's hands in hers and gazed into her eyes, "you gotta tell me what's going on. All the suspense is killing me."

Megan released a shaky breath. "Okay... I don't really know how to tell you. Like, I don't even know where to start."

The rapper groaned in frustration and rolled her eyes. She was growing upset at the fact that she had put herself in such a vicarious position in the first place. If she thought more quickly on her feet, she could've excused herself from the situation at Cardi's party. Then, she wouldn't have been in the exact position she's in today: having to record a song with her current lover's ex and having to tell her current lover that her obsessed ex found out about her burner account (that she wasn't supposed to have). Oh and by the way, the account was used to stalk Normani before they began dating. Megan would be thoroughly surprised if she walked away from this conversation with Normani still by her side.

"Hey, hey. Relax." Normani caressed Megan's forearms. "You can start from wherever you like. At the beginning, end, or middle of whatever you have to tell me. Don't put too much pressure on yourself." She flashed her lover an encouraging smile.

Megan cupped Normani's cheek and stared into her soft eyes that exuded compassion and care. "You're too good to me."

Normani gave Megan a quick peck on the lips. "I'm not too good for you. We are equally yoked. Stop acting like you don't deserve to be loved properly. You truly deserve the world, Meg. And I plan to give it to you. But you gotta tell me what's going on in that pretty head of yours. I'm not a mind reader."

As per usual, the rapper's cheeks turned a light shade of red while her lips formed into a broad smile. Normani really did have a way with words; she was smooth but her actions had always aligned thus far. Which is all the more reason why Megan's anxiety was through the roof, she didn't want her run-in with Solána to scare Normani off. Normani was too good for Megan to let go so easily.

"Okay, I'm going to tell you now. It's a long story and kinda confusing. Can you promise me that you'll listen to the whole thing without interjecting? I want to say my piece so that you understand everything."

Normani nodded. "I promise."

"Give me your pinky," Megan ordered, holding her pinky up in the air.

With a soft chuckle, Normani locked her pinky with Megan's. She watched Megan kiss her own thumb and stare at her in anticipation, so she did the same. The rapper made their thumbs touch each other above their pinkies in a "kiss" to seal the deal.
