Nervous

He left my tent and went to go get ready

I sighed feeling nervous. yes me and neteyam have hung out before but this time it just feels different. I contemplated what I was gonna wear, I went for a beaded blue and white dress as I put my hair down and decorated it with little flowers. I put on a necklace that kiri had made for me.
Speaking of which kiri came into my tent

She could see me pacing back and forth nervously

"uh do you have a date or something why are you so stressed." She watched me

"you look pretty at least" kiri chuckled

"Thanks and no it's not a date"

"Then why are you acting like it is?"

"Listen I'm going to hang out with neteyam. And he said it would just be us and."

"Ohhh great mother your freaking out over that. You'll be fine"

"Okay then what about the times you freaked out because you were gonna go hang out with roxto" I rolled my eyes " 'oh y/n what do I wear can you do my hair' " I mocked her

She gave me a small smirk "that's different and besides who knows maybe he'll kiss you y/n"

"Oh please he doesn't even see me like that, to him I'm still his best friend trust me. He probably thinks of me platonically. Him kiss me? No way in hell"

"But you're still getting dressed up all pretty for him. If you are just friends why don't you go in regular clothes."

"Because I'm."

"Exactly you know that deep down maybe you have a chance y/n. And I'm pretty sure tonight is gonna be that night." Kiri teased me

"Yeah yeah whatever."

"You know soon the ceremony is coming. He is going to be the next olo'ekytan. He has to pick out his mate soon."

My heart skipped a beat I knew he wasn't gonna pick me but my heart dreaded that day

"Once this war is finished we have to start preparing for it."

I stayed quiet looking at the ground

"But that's like what weeks, months away. So don't be so stressed. I know, my brother and I know that he would pick you."

My ears flickered up as I looked up at her

She was smirking at me "now go have fun on your date or whatever you're calling it."

She giggled looking at me as she walked up to me

"But first.." she fixed my hair fixing the flowers

"You look beautiful y/n don't ever second guess yourself." Kiri reassured me smiling

"Your beauty truly is a gift from eywa herself. And if neteyam can't see that, it's okay."

"Thank you kiri" I smiled feeling more relieved

"Now go out and wait for him I'll go check on neteyam." She said walking out of my tent

I still felt so nervous so much anxiety bubbling up in my stomach because what if he does kiss me what if he tells me

Neteyams pov

'Shit what do I wear' I thought I felt so nervous I don't know why 'should I put my hair up or leave it down..would she notice if I haven't showered yet. Wait I did. Do I smell ?..' I kept thinking to myself. after 5 minutes of thoughts I heard kiri come into the tent

"You look like you've had better days."

"I-I am just getting ready" I said nervously

"For a date?"
