so warner bros just dropped the absolute bomb out of nowhere that they're gonna be making new lotr movies??? alongside the anime that's coming out in legit a year??? and peter jackon's in the loop??? and they have beef w amazon?? and no one asked for this but??? THE POSSIBILITIES??? are you JOKING ME???

SO YEAHHHH i'll put the link to my fav article talking ab this in the comments but two days ago warner bros announced they've teamed up w new line cinema again (the og producers for lotr back together) and the embracer group to make *several* movies in the tolkien universe, one of which, called War of the Rohirrim is coming out literally a year from now in april 2024 (OH MY GOD OH MY GOD ALDHLAHDAKDAKJDKGAKGFAGKGA WHAT)
here's the concept art and just from this, this is possibly the only thing i'm 100% positive abt in all the utter chaos of this news:

aside from this, peter jackson and the other lotr/tH screenwriters have said they're 'in the loop' and they still don't have the rights to the silm, etc. (THANK YOU TOLKIEN ESTATE YOU'RE DOING SMTH RIGHT AT LEAST) so all they're working with is lotr, tH and the appendices -- aka only third age and some vague second age stuff which means BEEF w rings of power bc they have basically the exact same rights except for SHOWS instead of movies
(side note: this immediately gives way to ppl thinking there's gonna be a remake of the trilogy which they've confirmed isn't gonna happen thank GOD)
and more importantly amazon has distribution rights for movies, but not production rights, so every single movie that warner bros pitches and makes HAS to be run by amazon and our boy joffrey bezos second of his name otherwise no one will be able to see them
