chapter 43: marius's paranoia
~marius~
"And this right here is my favourite part of the entire house," Brent says, leading me and Marius into the dining room. The wall on the far side, which gives a view of the backyard, is covered with windows only. "As you can see, it seems like a very open and warming room with all the windows. It's a great place to just spend time together, even if you're not eating a meal."
I have to agree with Brent that this room is definitely a warm and opening one. It's similar to the dining room back at my parents' house with the windows covering one of the walls, and that room was one of my favourites to be in. I found myself doing work in there a lot, so no doubt this would be the same.
The dining room is the last room for us to check out, so Brent says, "I know you two already said you want the house, but are there any changes now that you're actually seen it in person?"
Fawn and I don't even have to have a discussion to see if anything changed. "If anything, it just makes us want it more," Fawn says, which is exactly what I was thinking. It's a house that seems to be a perfect mix of the the both of us. It has the feel of being in a small town, like Fawn, while having some modern hints to it, like me. This is a house I can see myself living in for the rest of my life, especially with Fawn.
I just love that man so much and I can't wait to take this step with him. I don't care if some people who find out think it's too fast. We're both ready for it and that's all that matters.
Now that Fawn and I have decided that we're for sure going to buy the house, all that's left for us to do is sign the paperwork and the house is ours. We could even move in as soon as that's sorted, but we're obviously not going to rush into that since we both have to wait for our rent to be up.
Besides, we still have a few other things to sort out, like if we're going to paint any of the walls in the house, whose furniture we're going to take, and how we're going to organize the house.
Though one thing we're sure of is how we're going to be using my bed for our bedroom since Fawn says it's a lot more comfier than his. He probably would have spent more nights at my house if he didn't have a pet to take care of.
Once Fawn and I both sign all the paperwork, Brent smiles and says, "Congratulations on your first home."
"Thank you for helping us find this one," Fawn says. "It really is perfect for the both of us."
"Anything for my friends," Brent says. "As a thank you, you can invite me to a housewarming party."
"Uh, of course you'll be invited," Fawn says. "What, you think we'll just invite all of our friends and not you?"
"Nah, I was just hinting that you should throw a housewarming party. This seems to be the perfect place for it."
Fawn looks at me. "Just so you know, I'll probably host a lot of barbecues here, especially in the summer, now that there's going to be a big yard."
"Oh, I don't doubt that at all," I say. There's always something comforting about hosting barbecues and other parties in your home. At least for me, there is. I'd be more than happy to host some here.
Especially if it means Fawn will do some cooking because I love his food. Although, I've already decided that I want to try cooking a lot more when we move into the house. I don't want to leave Fawn to do all the cooking, especially when he's not feeling well or he comes home for work late or even if he just isn't in the mood to cook anything.
Living together is going to be all about working together if we don't want to contribute to the financial imbalance.
Brent gives us the keys to the house, officially signifying that the house is ours. Brent has to get going to another job, so he leaves us here to do whatever we want. Fawn and I decide to take a better look around the house and see if we can start planning the layout.
It's a four bedroom house, so one will be our bedroom, one will be the guest bedroom, one will be my office, and the other will be kept for anything else we might need in the future. We decide which room is going to be what before Fawn decides to say, "You know, I think we should consummate us buying a house."
I stare at Fawn for a bit, trying to figure out if his choice of words was deliberate. "You do know what consummate means, right?"
"I'm twenty-two, Marius. Of course I know what it means." He looks around the room we're currently in; the kitchen. "Just look at all the surfaces we can do it on."
"Don't tease me like that, Fawn. You know I'd be up to it."
Unfortunately, Fawn really isn't up to it. He just decided to say it to tease me, but I can't even be mad at him. He's too cute to be mad at.
We decide it's time to head back to his house, so we leave the house and lock the door behind us. We walked here since it is close enough to Fawn's house; after all most people only ever use their cars if they're driving out of the town.
Before we can start walking home, Fawn grabs my arm to stop me before he wraps his arms around my shoulders and kisses me. When he pulls away, I say, "What was that for?"
"It's just because I love you so much, Marius," Fawn says.
I smile at Fawn. "I love you so much, too." I connect our lips again but as I kiss him, I get a weird feeling that someone is watching us. I pull away and look around, but I don't see anyone.
"Everything okay?" Fawn asks.
"Yeah," I say. "Just... Had a weird feeling someone was watching." I shake my head. "Don't worry. It's fine."
