chapter 5

with a sigh, eddy got up, stretching his arms and shutting the lid of the laptop in front of him. that's enough work for one day, he thought, glancing at the clock. it was quarter to seven, and the sun was beginning to dip out of view, casting the sky in splashes of blue and pink. eddy walked over to the mini balcony of their apartment and looked up at the sky, letting the wind ruffle his hair and caress his face.

eddy closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, letting the moment wash over him. it was as if time stood still. he felt a sense of clarity, a sense of calmness that only came from being in the present moment.

as he opened his eyes, he noticed that the sun had dipped below the horizon, and the sky had transformed from a pastel wonderland into a canvas of deep oranges, pinks, and purples.

he let out a contented sigh, feeling grateful for the moment. as he turned to go back inside, he couldn't help but feel a sense of hope for the future. the sunset had reminded him of the beauty and light in the world, and all the things that he had to be grateful for - brett, twoset, their fans, and this life. all he had to do was look for it.

just as he turned to go back inside, he bumped into brett, who had clearly just finished a practice session - he was stretching his fingers and neck. "it's beautiful, isn't it?" brett asked, to which eddy simply nodded. they stood for a few more minutes, brett's arm wrapped around eddy's waist.

"it's getting late, we should probably fix something up for dinner," brett said, pulling eddy back to the present once again. eddy nodded and led brett by the arm into the kitchen.

--

as the wok sizzled on the stove, they worked together in harmony, their movements perfectly in sync as they prepared the ingredients for their stir fry. eddy carefully chopped the vegetables while brett tended to the marinating meat. they chatted quietly as they worked, exchanging cooking tips and sharing stories from their day. soon, eddy tossed the vegetables into the wok, and brett added the meat, using his chopsticks to stir everything together. they worked in silence for a few moments, both lost in the magic of the moment. the sizzle of the wok, the fragrant spices, the steam rising from the dish all worked together to create a moment of harmony and peace.

finally, the dish was ready, and they plated it together, admiring their handiwork. as they finished their meal, they both sighed contentedly, feeling full and happy. it was moments like these, cooking and eating together, that made them realise how perfectly they fit together. they knew that in the kitchen, just like in life, they were meant to work together in perfect harmony.

"do you want to step out for a walk?" eddy asked, after the dishes were cleared.

it was a clear night, and the stars shone brightly, filling the sky with their sparkling light. eddy sighed, feeling a sense of longing that he couldn't quite put into words. he had always loved the stars, ever since he was a child. he would often spend hours lying on the grass, staring up at the sky and dreaming of what lay beyond.

"do you see that one? if you connect those together, it kind of looks like a violin," eddy said, pointing up at the sky.

brett followed his gaze, and for a few moments, they stood there in silence, lost in the beauty of the night.

"it's amazing, isn't it?" brett said finally.

"what is?"

"the stars. they make you feel so small and insignificant, but at the same time, they make you feel like you're part of something bigger, something magical."

eddy nodded, feeling a sense of understanding wash over him. eddy was generally the one voicing his deeper thoughts, but brett had said it perfectly.

they stood there for a few more moments, lost in their own thoughts. brett felt a sense of comfort being around eddy, like everything was right with the world when he was by his side.

suddenly, brett felt a hand slip into his, and he turned to look at eddy. he was looking at him, eddy's eyes filled with a sense of longing that he had never seen before.

brett felt his heart skip a beat, loving how eddy made him feel this way even after them being together for so long.

"i love you," eddy said finally, his voice filled with emotion.

"i love you too," brett said, his voice softening.

and then, without a word, eddy leaned in towards him, their lips caught in a star struck kiss. it was like fireworks exploding in brett's chest. he wrapped his arms around eddy, pulling him closer, never wanting to let him go.

as they broke apart, gasping for breath, they looked at each other, both of them filled with a sense of wonder and joy. they both knew this was the start of something that would last a lifetime.

they stood there for a few more moments, lost in their own world, as the stars shone down on them.

--

as they walked hand in hand back towards their apartment, the world seemed brighter and more beautiful than it had ever been before.

stopping outside their door, eddy dropped brett's hand and traced his fingers along brett's cheekbones. "i never thought i could be this happy," he said, the simplicity of the day eliciting a warm and homey feeling from him.

"me neither," brett replied, smiling at him.

as they walked in through the door, hand in hand, they knew that their love was a secret, a precious gift that they would keep close to their hearts. but they also knew that one day, they would tell the world, that they would share their love with everyone.
