"Daddy!" I saw a gray eyed boy running towards me with a big smile.
"Hey bud!" I said , picking him up and putting him on my hip.
"Are we going to your work today?!" he asked excitedly. He begged me for weeks to take him to the police station. I can't say no to that face. So whipped. So here I am picking him up from school to take him to work with me, for a couple of hours.
"I promised didn't i?'' I asked, kissing his forehead. I put him in his seat in my car and he was bouncing with excitement. Sapphire is working today, at her actual job. My mom, dad, and sister are keeping Emerald. She is the only child who can stand my father. I think it's because he looks like me. Mags is taking Gray to the park, so the kids get to hang out with someone while their mom works.
"Yes you did daddy and we don't break promises in our house!" he said in a matter of fact tone.
I chuckle and pull out the school parking lot, "how was school?" I asked.
"I got a girlfriend today!" he said, smiling brightly.
I choke on my spit. I'm coughing and silver gives me a concerned look, "don't tell your mother!" I said simply. I would hate to arrest the woman i love for threatening a child.
"She is pretty daddy and she says i'm going to be her husband!" he said smiling.
"Date for about 20 years first bud!" I said , chuckling.
"Don't worry i told her that we can be best friends until we can get married," he said laughing.
"Good, that's the best way to go!" I said, shaking my head at the crazy kid in my back seat.
"Can I ask you a big kid question?" he asked after a beat.
"Yeah, anything silver, you know that,'' I said honestly. Something I watched Sapphire do, she explains a lot to her kids, she is honest with them about everything but her child proves it.
"Will you marry mommy?" he asked hopefully.
I smile brightly picturing sapphire coming down the aisle, hating the attention of people. She would look beautiful as always but the woman hates people looking at her. I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted a wedding in her backyard with family and that is it. I say, "yeah bud i plan on it one day!"
"Good because I can't get married before my parents!" he said in a dramatic tone. He has Sapphire attitude but he has Will flare for dramatics. I chuckle and we pull into the station. Silver grabs his book bag and is already out his seat by the time i get to his door. He takes off running to the station door.
"Silver Forest Blake wait for me!" I said sternly. He stops suddenly and jumps in his spot waiting on me. Fuck I sounded like my father. Shit! I catch up with him and grab his hand and walk in with him. I take him to the side where my office is. Silver lets go of my hand and runs full speed to Lonnie. I should have known.
