Chapter 11: Of family and the past

"Father?" Asked Avelina in shock

"My apologies, miss. I am Alucard.." Said the man at the door, giving a courteous bow

Vlad interrupted him

"What brings you here, Adrian?"

"This isn't a discussion to be held at the door, is it?"

Vlad sighed and let him in

Ave, already agitated by the visit of Fatih, suspected the man was an ally of him. To her absolute surprise he called Vlad "father", yet Vlad's answer seemed way too cold. This whole situation didn't make any sense to her.

"Vlad, who's this?"

"This is my son. Adrian." Answered Vlad as he sat on the couch. His tone seemed to her to carry sorrow and even pain.

"I prefer being called Alucard.."

"Wait.. Alucard? That's Dracula backwards." Said Ave

"I see you found yourself a smart lady.. That's always been your type."

"Get to your point, Adrian!" Replied Vlad, visibly annoyed

"Why such disrespect to your father's name?!" Asked Ave

Alucard wondered if she knows and to what extent

"Family issues you can say." He replied

"Well, I don't accept any disrespect to Vlad here so you'll be addressed as he named you and you will show him respect!"

Adrian chuckled

"You sound just like my mother.."

"Adrian! You're not here for family memories I suppose. What brings you after all these years?"

"I believe we need privacy for this matter." Replied Adrian looking at Ave

"Ave stays. She knows everything." Said Vlad holding Ave's wrist

Adrian sighed

"Fine. You're being hunted."

"Fatih?!" Ave exclaimed

"How do you know?!"

"How do you know? He came to my store today!" Ave fired back.

Vlad seemed very indifferent

"So he's here already.." Mumbled Adrian

"You joined my hunters once back in the days. Why are you warning me now?"

"He WHAT? You did what?!" Exclaimed Ave

"He was in war with your people.."

"My people are monsters!! He was in pain! He was mourning his wife.."

Vlad held her hand trying to calm her down. He could feel her anger and worry. Her heartbeats were as loud as canon balls to his vampiric ears. As much as it hurt him to see her in this state, it warmed his heart to see another extent of how much this human cares for him.. and understands.

"Are you approving of this?!" Asked Adrian, shocked

"He was in pain. He wanted to avenge his wife! The cruelty I have seen from this humanity made me understand that they can be monsters far worse than a vampire in pain."

Vlad's look softened on hearing her words

"Now you sound more like Isaac, doesn't she?"

Vlad's eyes changed back into deep rage. They turned entirely blood red
