"okay, hand the phone back to your mom now" quin said into the phone "hey sis! god i can't' believe she's almost four"
"i know, time flies when you live in another country" quin's sister joked "she asks for you all the time quin, now that you're living in america again i wanna see you more and so does she... she is your niece after all"
"i know i know, look i gotta go pick up nia from the airport but i'll talk to you later, love you! bye" quin hung up the phone and walked back into her bedroom from her balcony.
she went out to the car that she was renting and looked over to rudy's house, it's weird... she could have sworn that she just saw his truck in the driveway.
quin drove to the airport and picked up nia, quin's friends had planned a night out to welcome nia into the group.
the girl's got ready at madelyn's and pregamed before the boys got there, the boys brought take out and then everyone went out to a couple bars together.
quin had noticed that rudy had been acting off, she didn't know what was bothering him so she handled it the way he would; make him smile instead of asking questions.
rudy was sitting down at the booth when quin came up behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, then she grabbed his arms that were in his lap and pulled him onto the dance floor.
he quickly went from looking upset to looking happy, the group continued to drink and dance throughout the night. rudy leaned into quin's ear "you're a really good friend" he smiled.
"friend".
"friend".
"friend".
those words repeated and burned into quin's mind... that's all she was to him; a friend.
