Orphan Child

Your body becomes an earthquake

As the chill hits your wet skin

Your skin begins to fall and flake

As you get your first taste of sin

Each and every snowflake falls

Cold and dead upon your wounds

You wait for someone to help you

Watch as the people tut as they walk by

Then a kindly person comes along

Wraps you into their embrace

Enamouring you in their loving shell

As they huddle over you cooing

A parent fled you in the dead of night

Leaving you to your demise to fight

Alone and fragile in the world

How could they do it to their baby boy or girl?

You grew up with more happiness

Than you ever would have

You didn't need your birth parents

You know who your true parents are

Background Story:

A little baby gets left in the middle of the street instead of a doorstep. Basically is left to die until a kind family comes along and take the baby in. This poem isn't personal to me but I wanted to write something that represented orphans.

There weren't any songs about orphans (except Annie - Hard Knock Life but that didn't really fit here) so this is the best I could do.

Hope all you orphans out there still had a great life.
