One minute I'm telling Danny I'm going to ride him, next the lights are shutting off.
"Danny?" I say, touching a soft face right next to mine.
"Yeah, who else would it be?" he asked, confused.
I tap his cheek, "Don't sass me, it could have been a stranger." I explain myself.
In retaliation, he taps my thigh. "Get up so I can go see what's going on." He spoke. I get off his lap, he puts his hands on my hips and directs me in front of him as we walk, presumably, to the door.
"I can't see anything Danny, what if I-", my voice cuts off when my head hits the wall. "Ah, fuck!"
I can feel him chuckling behind me, "Sorry, it's just- I'm sorry."
"You're so not getting ridden tonight." I clamp onto his hand that's on my waist and direct us to the door. I look down the hall to see a distant light on the wall, we both walk toward it, which luckily is by the stairs. Turns out we weren't the only people who had the thought of coming downstairs.
Crowds of people are standing around the desk; some yell and others groan. I see one woman has half of her hair straight and the other is frizzy while the man next to her is in a bathrobe and wet hair.
"Everyone, calm down!" We look off into the distance to see an older woman with a thick French accent, maybe in her 50s, standing on top of the receptionist's desk. "For the past few weeks, they have been doing construction down the street, they accidentally hit the power line and took out power all down the block. It was said that the power will be back on no less than 3 hours." At that, everyone groans and starts cursing. I cuddle up closer to Danny, just in case a riot starts.
"Don't you guys have a generator?" yelled one man in the back.
"Yeah, fancy hotels always have generators." said the woman with straight/frizzy hair.
"Yes, we do have a generator, but it only powers everything downstairs, it should be turned on any-", the power downstairs turns on, and bright lights and mechanical music power around us. "You all are lucky to stay downstairs, there are plenty of comfy chairs to take naps and drinks and food are on us!" A few cheers ring out, some people are still mad. You can't please everyone; I know that firsthand.
Danny and I watch as some people scatter into the lobby, while others walk out of the hotel, hoping to find peace elsewhere, barely anyone goes back upstairs.
"What do you want to do, mein libeling?" he asked, looking down at me.
"I say we get some drinks and go back upstairs," I suggest. "I do have a pack of uno cards we can play."
"Sure thing, go on upstairs while I grab the drinks." He kisses my cheek and directs me toward the stairs. Before I go up, I see one of the workers here leaving lanterns on the counters for guests. I grabbed one and headed up the stairs to our room.
🥂🥂🥂🥂
I hit a few chairs and even the table until I made it to my suitcase. The uno cards are something that I picked up at a gas station before leaving the States. I was afraid that Danny and I might be bored and have nothing to do. Uno is a great pastime to play with friends or even by yourself if that's your cup of tea.Finding the table, I sit down the lantern and start dealing out the cards. Danny comes in five minutes later with a bottle of wine and cheese.
I gasped, "Now I know they didn't just give that to you."
He smirks, making it look creepy with the lantern being the only light, "You give someone 100 euros and they'll do anything."
I grin, "I love how you throw your money around, makes you sexy." I wrap my hands around his waist, kissing his lips gently.
