These Nights Are Ours (Part One)

Avery has never been this hurt. Even if he had relationships before that didn't end well, ito yata ang pinaka-masakit. To think that they're not even official yet. He's actually wondering why it hurts this much kung hindi pa naman gano'n katagal when they confessed their feelings for each other.

But on the other hand, naisip rin ni Avery that maybe it hurts because he didn't just lose a potential love. He also lost the friendship and memories he had with Jes.

Damn, that has to be it.

"Avery." He looked up when he heard a girl call him and he was greeted by Malia's bright smile.

"Okay ka na?" Avery asked. He tried to observe the way she walks at diretso naman ito.

"Oo naman. I can take the alcohol out of my body if needed," Malia replied. "But sorry if it took me a bit long. I needed to brush my teeth."

"Ginamit mo toothbrush ni Rence?" he joked.

Malia's face crumpled. "Ew, no. Kadiri ka. They have an extra, thankfully."

"So, tara na? Hahatid na kita sa inyo."

Today's Rence's birthday. He's one of Avery's friends nu'ng senior high school pa lamang ito. They had solid friendship back then and he's happy that they got to keep the bond even if they're already in college.

And even if he and Malia are part of the circle.

Avery and Malia were exes. Just like some relationships, they started as friends without a plan to be in one. But then one day, it's like they just realized that they have feelings for each other and they both decide to act into it.

But then one day as well, it's like the romance just suddenly went away kaya natapos din ang lahat.

Their relationship started a few months after they met each other in 11th grade pero natapos din before they even graduated from senior high school.

They even had a bad break up kaya ilang buwan din silang parehong hindi nakakasama whenever their friends are hanging out.

But maybe people are right when they said that time heals all wounds because after some time, naging okay naman na sila.

"Hindi mo na isusuot 'yang hoodie mo?" Malia asked.

Avery has already taken off the hoodie he's wearing over his muscle tee. He was fine with wearing it a while ago but after he had a bottle of beer ay tinanggal niya na ito. Hindi naman siya nakarami ng inom dahil magda-drive siya pauwi at ihahatid niya pa si Malia pero nainitan pa rin siya.

"Hindi naman na. You need it?"

Malia nodded. "Kung okay lang. Medyo malamig din kasi."

"Sure. Here, suot mo na." Avery gave the hoodie to her. "Tsaka next time kasi dagdagan mo 'yung tela ng sinusuot mo. Kung okay lang rin naman, a. No pressure."

Malia just laughed at his comment as she wore the hoodie.

One of the reasons why Avery also volunteered na isabay si Malia ay dahil alam niyang mahilig itong mag-suot ng crop top at shorts and he's also not wrong about it today. Marami pa naman ding gago sa lugar nila Rence.

Kahit noon din ay hindi niya naman pinipigilan si Malia sa mga gusto nitong isuot. But to be sure na hindi ito mababastos, he always comes with her instead.

Avery rode his motorcycle first so he could also make it steady for Malia.

"Kumapit ka, a. Baka mahulog ka dyan. Lasing ka pa naman," Avery bluffed once again na tinawanan din ni Malia.
