Stranded

Ji and I awake tied to chairs, our backs facing each other. Before us we see the thieves.... along with Chae. "What?! Chae?!" Ji shouts. Chae smiles and hands something to a thief. "So who should I take out first? Hate to do this *not really* but y'all saw too much." One of them says.

"Hey!" I yelled. "You can do whatever to me." I paused. They all looked at me.

"But you must let Jihye go."

Ji's eyes widen. "Hmm..." The man says with a smirk. "Very well then, if that's what you want." They quickly unbound Ji and she was soon free.

She didn't look back at me. I mean I am pathetic for wanting to die anyways. At least she can be free or whatever. Don't gotta take her down with me. I don't care for her. I just want a way out of the world.

"So kid," the man starts. "Do you know where they keep certain valuables?" I looked at the man confused. Why would there be valuables in the school? That's the last place I think anything would be. "I don't think there is anything valuable here. Unless you want to make the most 'devious lick' and take a microscope and sell it for 500 bucks.." I say but-

Thwack. I was slapped across the face. "I'm not playing, kid." The man says harshly. "But think about it this way. If a school is gonna hide something, why the school itself? Imagine some random ass kid got their hands on it." I say, but I get hit again. All the bones in my face hurt and it's suddenly hard to concentrate.

Out of the corner of my blurred vision, I see Chae looking at me with a half resentful and half worried face. Just tell the truth. You won't get hurt this way. Chae then disappeared outside. "I don't even know where it is!" I get elbowed across the face. I hear a ringing.

I feel warm liquid rush down the side of my face. "Where is it?!" I hear between the pain in my face. It's getting hard to stay awake now. I feel hot pain in my stomach. He must've kneed me. The ringing continues until my ears start to ache. I cringe at the high pitch and try to stay awake.

I see the silhouette of Chae return.

"Was.....rumor....true...?" It's hard to hear. My ears stop ringing. "I'm going out to guard until you get answers out of him." Chae says and leaves the room. More hits followed. Man, I just wanted to die. Not get tortured. My eyes close. I then jolt awake. Why can't I just die already?!

I don't want this anymore.

Why can't it end?! The pain is too much.

I slip in and out of consciousness.

I wonder where Jihye is..

Did she escape? Probably.

Why am I thinking of her?

I don't care for her.

I awake at the thought of Ji. I'm more awake now, and the men now gave up on torturing me. My head is pounding, but I'm still alert. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a girl running holding a fire extinguisher above her head. Am I hallucinating now?

She drops it on the ground and powder spews everywhere making a smoke bomb effect. The girl, who is now in my vision, is Jihye. She uses a knife and cuts the rope binding my arms in one sweep.

Ji, what the h-"

A man comes up behind her with a knife in hand. "Ji, watch ou-"
