The next morning I woke up around 6:30 to try to be the first one awake out of pure fear that the boys would be up already. I left my over size shirt and pj shorts on but I put my glasses on and went downstairs for some coffee. When the house was quiet I assumed I was the first one awake so I brewed some fresh coffee and poured whatever garbage vegan cream sam had In the fridge in my coffee. I just wanted to sit and enjoy my coffee in the cold crisp morning weather while I worked on todays menu I grabbed my notepad and pen and headed for the door. As I stepped out onto the large front porch  I noticed Danny doing some sort of meditation so I started to turn back into the house.
"No; stay I was just finishing up" he whispered

"No it's ok I don't want to intrude" I insisted

"Come sit down , watch the sun hit the mountains" he lightly smiled and gestured for me to sit in the rocking chair next to the one he was climbing into.
"Thanks, so are you always up this early or can I sleep in a few days a week." I joked

"Not every day ,just when something is bothering me, I usually am up at around 8 and Sammy at 9"

"So something is bothering you this morning?"  I asked

"Yes , Sam was acting so off yesterday and he shouldn't have talked to you the way he did, and I wanted to apologize, he is not usually like that he is just trying to get over this break up still... he really loved her."

" yeah I heard about it a little while ago and I get it he is hurting. And don't worry about yesterday trust me it took me some getting used to being talked to like that all the time in the kitchen ;not just here."

He started to frown and then asked me a question " So if you get so much shit and pushback in your industry how and why do you still do it?"
" I love doing it. I love proving older male chefs that they are wrong of course but it is more than that. The art through my cooking is my creative outlet that fuels my passion. I used to be a much wider range artist, but I had been cooking and baking since I was about 6 years old and because I had done it for so long that form of art just felt right and has always made me happy even if it wasn't the original plan. Think about it this way you have been playing guitar since you were a little kid and you loved music so much that you switched your media to still Pursue your passion and now you play drums for one of the biggest bands in the industry."
He started to glow a tad when I had said that " that makes so much sense and that is exactly how I feel about my music and you have been the only person to be able to put that into words in a long time." He gleamed
I smiled big back at him
"So what does today's schedule look like boss?" I giggled
"Well the other boys are coming over here for dinner tonight because I told them about our new chef at dinner last night and they want to see what's up, but other than that Sam will probably wake up in about an hour hungry as hell and for lunch maybe just a salad." He said with such confidence

"Perfect I will start breakfast in about 30 minutes I am thinking a tofu scramble with veggies and I will have to see what vegan concoction I can cook up for dinner with what is in the house because I need my car to get at least some basic groceries."  I started to ramble
" I can take you to go get your car and groceries tomorrow if you would like"

"That sounds great" I said as we headed inside for me to get started on breakfast.

By the time Sam was up I was showered ,changed and just finishing cleaning up the kitchen before I put the tofu on the stove because it cooks so quick. He sat down at the bar in the seat next to Danny who had been reading a book while I was making breakfast. I poured some fresh squeezed orange juice into a glass and placed it in front of Sam.
"Good morning" I said chirping
" Morning" he responded in a low raspy voice before taking a sip of the juice I poured.
I placed the freshly cooked tofu scramble on two plates and handed one to each of the boys.

"Ooh, looks delicious, thank you Kya" Danny said taking the plate out of my hand.

"Yeah thanks" Sammy followed

I smiled a light grin before I said " thank you it was my pleasure"
As the boys finished eating their breakfast I threw a protein bar in my face and began resetting the kitchen for lunch as well as going through all the food in the house to see what I could cook for dinner.
"So is this dinner tonight casual or do I need to post-mates a slab of wild Alaskan salmon to the house?" Laughing it off
Before Sam even tried to say anything remotely snarky Danny responded that the dinner was casual and there was no need to throw a fancy dinner together.
The rest of the day was spent with the boys resting ,Danny reading and me meal planning for the next few weeks before dinner.
