Chapter 9: Nightmare

I almost shout when I saw my own reflection in a mirror. My hair has been too messy, even my lips was so pale. I wonder how did Dark manage to talk to me especially in my worst look.

I combed my hair and bite my lips to brought back my normal appearance. I formed a great smile when I saw how beautiful I look. But that smile suddenly fade once I realized something. Lately, I have noticed that I've been growing. Not just my look but also my knowledge.

As I continue dealing the life's challenges, I realized a lot of thing. How life works, how chaotic the world is and how life was so bitter.

But the more we get to understand about life, the more tiring and draining it will be. As we keep on growing, there will always be pain that's been waiting. But no matter how life gives us pain, we should learn to continue. For every pain worth a lesson.

In battling it only has two result, either you win or you lose. Same as battling with our life struggles and challenges. But theirs just one thing I've been used to admire in battling with life, it's special feature.

In battling with life, whether we lose or win we will still receive a great lesson. A lesson that will fulfill every missing piece of our existence.

"Jean!" Dark's shout cut off my deep thought.

Agad akong lumabas sa kwarto para sumabay kumain sa kanya. Paglabas ko agad kong naamoy ang masarap na amoy ng ulam. It smells so damn good.

Pagdating ko ay nakita ko si Dark na nagsasalin ng kanin sa kaniyang plato. Umupo ako sa pagbabasakaling pagsasalinan niya din ako ng kanin pero nakita ko nalang siyang umupo at kumain ng walang imik.

Padabog akong tumayo at nagtungo sa may kitchen counter kung saan nakalagay ang rice cooker. Kumuha ako ng pinggan at nagsalin ng kanin doon. Nasa lamesa naman ang ulam kaya agad na akong umupo pabalik.

I never thought he would do it. He perfectly ruined my expectation. Si Emarson kasi ay palagi niya akong pinagsasalinan ng kanin at ulam kapag kumakain kami. At first I find it weird kasi nagmumukha akong bata na kinakailangan pa niyang pag-abalahan but little by little, I find it sweet and hospitable.

Bumuntong hininga ako bago nagsimulang kumain. It was unrespectful to hear especially I'm in the front of the food, pero ayaw ko namang kumain nang may sama ng loob. It will just lose my appetite.

Nakita ko sa may bowl na may gulay pala ang niluto ni Dark. In the first bowl it has meat with spinach, hindi ko alam kung ano ang tawag niyon. In the second bowl, It also has meat with slices of cabbage. Ngunit dahil sa sawa na ako sa gulay ay puro karne lang ang aking kinuha.

I was in the midst of eating when I saw Dark handed me the veggies.

"Life is much healthier when you eat vegetables" he explained.

"I know"

"Then why don't you get some?"

"Because I don't want to"

I hear his deep breath, he sounds like losing. I was eating head bowed that's why I can freely create a damn smirk at him.

Narinig ko siyang umayos ng upo. I was expecting him to put vegetables in my plate, pero nagulat nalang ako nang pitikin niya ang noo ko.

"What was that?" Sinalubong ko siya ng nakakunot ang noo.

Nakita ko siyang ngumiti, a real rare smile. Kinuha niya ang kutsara ko at ginamit iyon sa pagkuha ng gulay. What surprised me next is that he tried to feed me.
