The Tonight Show: Ivory talks about 'The Whale' and plays charades

Ivory felt her heart beating fast as she walked through the backstage of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She couldn't believe that she was about to be on the show that she had watched since she was a kid. Ivory had been here before but it always felt like the first time. She took deep breaths and tried to calm her nerves.

As she waited in the green room, she went over her talking points in her head. She was there to promote her latest movie, The Whale, and talk about her role as Kate, a young girl who forms an unlikely friendship with a reclusive teacher played by Brendan Fraser.

Finally, she was called onto the set, and she made her way out to the stage, waving to the cheering audience as she took her seat across from Jimmy.

"Hey, Ivory! It's great to have you here!" Jimmy exclaimed, flashing his trademark grin. "So, let's talk about The Whale. I've heard amazing things about the movie, and I can't wait to see it. Can you tell us more about your character, Kate?"

Ivory's eyes lit up as she leaned forward. "Oh, absolutely! Kate is this amazing character who is dealing with her own issues, but when she meets Charlie, played by Brendan, they form this really special bond and she becomes good friends and maybe even more, i don't want to spoil too much, with his daughter Ellie. It's a really heartwarming story, and I'm so excited for people to see it."

Jimmy nodded, looking impressed. "And how was it working with Brendan? I heard he went through a major physical transformation for the role."

Ivory grinned, remembering the intense process. "Oh, yeah, he did! It was amazing to see him really become the character. We all went through a really emotional journey filming this movie, but it was all worth it in the end."

As the conversation shifted to Ivory's recent fashion choices, Jimmy couldn't resist teasing her about her bold red carpet looks.

"So, Ivory, I have to ask about the Oscars. That suit was...a lot," Jimmy joked, causing Ivory to laugh.

"I like to take risks!" Ivory shot back, grinning. "And it was so much fun to wear. Plus, I'm pretty sure it was the most talked-about suit of the night, not to sound narcissistic or something but it was great, so I'd say it was a success."

"It absolutely was a success" Jimmy leaned forward in his seat, his eyes wide with excitement as he recalled Ivory's stunning suit from the Oscars.

"Ivory looked absolutely incredible at the Oscars," he said, gesturing animatedly. "She was wearing this amazing Versace suit that was just out of this world. It was this deep ocean blue color with a front knot in the right front, and the blazer was completely bedazzled with Swarovski stones. And get this, she wasn't even wearing a shirt underneath! It was amazing!"

He paused, grinning at the audience's reaction, as he held up a picture of it, before continuing. "And the pants were these amazing, baggy flared pants that just flowed as she walked. But the best part was the little whale embroidered on the back of the blazer, with the signatures of the whole cast around it. It was such a special touch and really showed how close they all are."

Jimmy leaned back in his seat, still beaming at the memory. "And I remember her saying in an interview on the red carpet that Sadie actually chose the color of the suit because she thought it was a mix of their eye colors and that it would match with her dress. It was such a great fashion moment, and Ivory looked like an absolute queen."

"That was right. And thank you Jimmy, i loved wearing the suit and bringing in my own thought with the whale" she laughed.

The two bantered back and forth about fashion, with Ivory sharing some of her favorite looks from recent events. But when the conversation turned to her personal life, Ivory's energy shifted slightly.

"So, Ivory, you and Sadie Sink have become really close over the years. Can you tell us more about your friendship?" Jimmy asked.

Ivory's smile softened as she thought about Sadie. "Yeah, we've been friends for a long time now. We actually met on the set of Stranger Things back in 2017, and we just hit it off right away. She's like family to me."

Jimmy nodded, sensing the change in Ivory's demeanor. "It's so important to have people like that in your life, especially in this industry."

Ivory nodded, her voice quiet. "Yeah, it really is. I'm so grateful for her."

The conversation then turned to Ivory's recent TikTok, which had gone viral. In the video, Ivory was running in the rain with an umbrella, doing the trend where women run to the song Ceilings by Lizzie McAlpine. Jimmy asked her how it was making the video and how she felt about it going viral.

Ivory couldn't help but gush as she talked about the experience. "Oh, my gosh, it was so much fun! I had been seeing that trend all over my For You page, and I just had to try it."

After their conversation, Jimmy Fallon suggested that they play a game of charades with words that had something with the Whale or other of her projects. Ivory's eyes lit up with excitement as she stood up from her chair and walked towards the game table that had been set up for them.

Jimmy handed Ivory a stack of cards, and she began to shuffle them nervously. "Okay, okay, I got this," Ivory mumbled under her breath as she glanced over the words on the cards.

"Alright, let's do this!" Jimmy said, clapping his hands together as they both took their positions.

Ivory picked the first card from the top of the deck and started acting out the word. She waved her arms and pointed to her nose and then made a swimming motion.

"Umm...swimming with sharks?" Jimmy guessed.

"No, no, no," Ivory said, shaking her head. "Think harder, think about me."

After a few more seconds of guessing, Jimmy finally got it. "Oh, I know! Diving in the ocean, the song you wrote for Outer Banks!"

"Yes!" Ivory exclaimed, as she handed the card to Jimmy to act out the next word.

As the game went on, the two of them laughed and joked around, trying to act out words like "actress", "movie star", and "Oscars". They even had a few moments where they both guessed each other's words in a matter of seconds.

After a few rounds of intense competition, Ivory emerged as the winner of the game, much to her delight. "I knew I had it in me!" she said, laughing.

As they walked back to their seats, Jimmy congratulated Ivory on her win and thanked her for being such a great sport. "You were awesome, Ivory! That was so much fun," he said.

Ivory beamed with joy, feeling grateful for the opportunity to showcase her fun side on national television. "Thank you so much for having me, Jimmy. This was so much fun," she replied.

As the interview came to a close, Jimmy thanked Ivory for coming on the show and congratulated her on all of her recent successes. Ivory took a deep breath, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over her.

"Before I go, I just wanted to remind everyone to check out my new movie, The Whale. It's such an emotional journey and I know you're going to love it," Ivory said, promoting her new film one last time.

Jimmy nodded, thanking her once again for being on the show. As Ivory stepped offstage and into the buzzing chaos of the studio, she couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to share her passions and experiences with the world. And she knew that, no matter what came next, she had the support of her friends, her family, and her fans to carry her through.
