A grey haired man opens a door with a number seven on it.
"She's gone!"10 months later
"Class dismissed! Please complete pages 33-37 in your science textbook! If you have some extra time if I were you I'd read ahead of the chapter since it will be coming up on the next test..."
The tall lanky teacher with a neat moustaches voice slowly fades as he notices the children almost running out of the class.
The last girl out of the room struggles to quickly pack away her books before the rest of the students leave. She nods at the teacher, Mr Scott Clarke has never heard that child speak, nobody really has, but she listened in class. Wow she listened to every detail any teacher said- she wasn't good with tests.. or spelling but she sat and took in all the information which was more than half of her classmates did.The same girl hovers at her locker, carefully placing each book in her locker- while the others around her threw their books into the lockers and all raced off desperate to get home. The girl grabs her skateboard which she really had a knack of using when she overhears some boys near her arguing.
"Dustin, we shouldn't! We don't know the girl!" A young boy says gripping tightly to his science book.
"Mike, just look how cool she looks! We need another member after all!" The boy called Dustin exclaims.
"I think he's right.." The smallest boy almost whispers.
"Thank you Will! Lucas?" The group of boys turn to the tallest of the group.
"It's worth a try I guess.."
They make their way over to the girl just as she finishes organising her locker for the 4th time this week. The girl shuts her locker and subtly jumps at the sight of 4 boys staring at her.
"Hi there! I'm Dustin Henderson, these are my friends. Mike Wheeler, Will Byers and Lucas Sinclair! He introduces.
"Oh hey.. you're in my class, right?"
She pushes her short blonde hair which just barely reached her shoulders, except it wasn't nicely straighten or curled- it was just pulled into a loose ponytail with the side pieces falling out throughout the day. The boys never got to see her actually eye colour since the side hair pieces always draped around her face, they were big and brown but she has this almost indescribable stern look about her- maybe it was because of the faded scar on her left eye.. or maybe the boys just thought she was cool since she skateboarded.
"Yes, your Sage aren't you?"
Mike asks and Dustin smiles, he obviously changed his mind on being her friend after noticing her bitchin' scar! If only they really knew what trauma she went through to get that mark.
"Sage Levins, nice to meet you guys."
"We were wondering if you wanted to come around to Mike's house- have you ever played D&D? We'd love to see if you are good enough to join our party."
Sage's face dropped- no, she'd never played D&D before. This girl was practicing skating, playing video games, gossiping- practically anything just to get someone to be able to talk to her about something but she blew it the second a group of kids asked.
"No.. sorry, I've never played."
Sage waited a moment for them to drift off and they didn't."Ah, don't even worry about it! We can teach you, its easy once you get the hang of it, you could be the sorcerer!" Will exclaims excitedly and the boys laugh at him.
"Come on, we'll head to my house now. I have a basement which my mom never comes down to so it's basically like we have a whole house to ourselves!" Mike brags.
"She only doesn't come down because of Dustin's farting!" Lucas mocks in a babyish tone and Dustin immediately goes red in the face and shoves at Lucas.
As they make their way to the house and Mike's mom hugs her the moment she walks in the door and offers them some hot chocolate and biscuits Sage lets out a sigh of relief. She finally had something- it wasn't a home but she knew that she'd have somewhere to go if things got hard. Which they did, winter was coming soon and that's all she'd been thinking about- you can't just hide out in houses after families go off on weekend trips or sleep under the stars in the woods when it's freezing cold. She needed somewhere to stay and her gut feeling said that she found the perfect place.
hey guys! this isn't a proper chapter- I will be going based off each episode but i felt you needed an introduction to sage, pls leave any feedback in the comments its much appreciated! ellie x
