This author listens to Taylor Swift and knows Kaveh is absolutely blasting we are never ever getting back together.

Al Haitham was going to need a beer. Nobody had told him what the night out was. As a result he showed up in a suit to a neon-lit kareoke bar rented after hours by Cyno. He jokingly told Al Haitham earlier that he pulled a few strings to get them an experience that he'd be singing praises about. It was a pun that made sense to him now as he caught Kaveh's eye when he entered. He saw him eye his outfit and look away, almost bashfully. Tighnari came soon after sitting down leisurely and grabbing a drink.

"Dressed to impress much?" He gave Al Haitham a cheeky smile before opening his beer can.
Al Haitham cleared his throat, feeling the blush rise up to his ears. "Nobody told me we were on for kareoke exactly." He eyed Kaveh with those last few words, something Tighnari didn't fail to notice.
"When exactly are you planning to make a move then? This is getting tiring at this point." Turns out both Kaveh and Al Haitham were horrible at sneaking their glances, much to the annoyance of the group. When they weren't arguing they were pining. It was exhausting.
"Don't even get that started nari.." Al Haitham felt his gaze drift again to Kaveh. "I'm going to need more than a couple drinks to get through this one." It was frankly a little miserable. He actually liked this suit.
"I'll make sure to text you in advance next time" Cyno chortled as he took a seat by Tighnari, leaving Kaveh to sit next to Al Haitham.

First glance, Kaveh was slightly red. Second, he was trying his best to conceal his laughter.
"Didn't know you took vocaloid that seriously" He said, almost breaking into laughs. The teasing grin sent Al Haitham's heart into flips as he fumbled for a way to answer. Kaveh on the other hand felt his neck heating up and tried to conceal his blush with horrid jokes. Nobody should look that impossibly good in a suit. again he did his best to start up a conversation. Al Haitham was less than surprised when Kaveh took a sip of his beer and grinned over to Tighnari and Cyno.
"How drunk do you guys think Al Haitham will have to get for us to convince him to sing?"
They shared a knowing look before smirking over at Al Haitham. It was almost mind numbing as if they were saying 'how drunk?? All it would take is a please from Kaveh to get him to call of his life- what's the plan now great council president?' and Al Haitham knew it was true. He didn't deny it, huffing and leaning back into the booth.

.  .  .

Al Haitham regretted arriving. No, he regretted existing in the general vicinity of the people he was somehow tricked into believing we're his friends. Not the cruellest, most horrendous and sadist teacher would make someone do this. Yet he was on stage, on enough beers to not remember ever doing this, forced to sing songs from shitty romcom movies that he'd forgotten the lyrics to. Cyno took the only song on the roster he even slightly enjoyed and by God, it was absolute torture every time he had to  watch Kaveh perform. How every time he'd give the most confident smile followed by the most outrageous songs and somehow make it sound like a melody Al Haitham couldn't ever forget. The way tipsy giggles would break through in the break between the chorus and the verse, how quickly he'd look away whenever he saw Al Haitham look at him even from the a corner of his eye. The little swaying movements and hearty cheers whenever anyone else was on stage. Sitting in a suit that suddenly felt soaked in sweat and stuck to his skin, with a tie that was too tight to let in all the oxygen that Kaveh was stealing away with every move. It was complete and utter torture.

Still, he enjoyed the familiar banter and chatter within the group. Talking about everything and unanimously groaning at Cyno's jokes. Getting drunk and having the place to themselves. Singing what went from solos to duets to cheesy Disney songs which is how he and Kaveh found themselves onstage.
"Guys" he laughed, clearly drunk off his ass and snorting at the selection. "This is so stupid" It devolved into loud stomach laughs that had him leaning on Al Haitham. He couldn't do anything but put a hand behind Kaveh to stop him from actually falling. "Al Haitham would never actually consider-" the music started up slow at first. Al Haitham pushed down the feeling that he should not be doing this and instead;
"Don't go breaking my heart" Kaveh turned to him in surprise before jumping back in, he gave Al Haitham a pointedly teasing look before grabbing the mic
"I couldn't if I tried" a small laugh.
"Honey if I get restless-" God Al Haitham felt really stupid right about now. He avoided Kaveh's eyes. He could feel Cyno and Tighnari watching them intently with knowing grins and drunken laughs.
"Baby you're not that kind" Kaveh gave Al Haitham's shoulder a small nudge playfully and Al Haitham almost lost his breath for a moment.

. . .

"Right from the start" Al Haitham made the mistake of eye contact, moving closer, mic in hand.
"I gave you my heart" Kaveh made a tipping-hat gesture to him, all sincere and surprisingly sober looks of affection. Al Haitham once again cursed himself for making eye contact as Kaveh stepped toward him. Yet, neither could look away.

"Oh-oh" in sync, at this point facing each other "i gave you my heart"

. . .

When the song ended they were still face to face, panting breathless from the longer notes. Despite what each wanted to say to the other, lean in just a little more, Kaveh seemed to sober up in a second as they both became aware of their faces barely inches apart. Kaveh's eyes widened, he gulped before looking to the booth. One look at Cyno and Tighnari sent all 4 of them into fits of laughter, at least it lightened the mood. The evening just continued from there and it wasn't until a few hours later that Al Haitham and Kaveh waved goodbye and left for their apartment. For some reason once the rush wore off all he could think of was Kaveh, sweating and laughing along with the song. He pulled off his tie, rubbing his palm over his eves and sneaking a glance over at Kaveh, looking away the second he saw he was looking back. As they approached the house he could hear Kaveh still humming the song and he couldn't help but join in at some parts. Still, it was quiet and comfortable, nothing like the full on performance from before. It was strange for a moment before it all felt overwhelmingly normal, as if it could've been like this the whole time. Al Haitham sucks air through his teeth at the thought that the only thing stopping this from being perfect was Kaveh's hand in his, swinging along.

'When exactly are you planning to make a move then?' Al Haitham could hear Tighnari in his head, urging him on, he could feel Cyno with his arms crossed, glaring at him to do something if he really wanted to see the excited glint in Kaveh's eyes as much as he denied it. To be the one singing along with him again. He walked closer to Kaveh, brushing their hands against each other, not daring to look anywhere but ahead. Yet when Kaveh mirrored his actions and intertwined their hands Al Haitham once again felt the world spin. They were both looking away from the other, yet their hands together felt so warm, so naturally made to slip into place. When they reached the door Al Haitham dreaded what it would be like to let go. So when they reached the entrance he stopped, looking to Kaveh, who'd stopped abruptly at his side. Their eyes met and their hands broke apart for a second, maybe two before Kaveh surged up and Al Haitham placed his hands against his face and suddenly they were kissing and when they broke apart, Al Haitham could only look on fondly at how wide Kaveh grinned, all the more as he started laughing and it spread, both of them letting out the jittery nerves that has been building up.

"I've wanted to do that for so long you have no clu-"
"Trust me, I have a clue, same here" they smiled like idiots.
"And it's not like you made it better, showing up in a suit"
"As if you don't make it hard by smiling like that" they talked for a bit before unlocking the door and heading in, taking off their shoes and heading up the stairs, from where they were on opposite ends of the hall. Kav h placed a small kiss on Al Haitham's cheek and Al Haitham hugged him close
heading to bed.
. . .

"20 bucks on they only held hands"
"30 on they got to actually talking about their feelings cause i lectured Haitham about it t w i c e"
"As if I didn't spend the entire time you were doing that lecturing Kaveh??"
Cyno and Tighnari placed their best.
The next morning Tighnari laughed as Cyno handed him 20 bucks.
