When I've covered the 60s/70s in my story Woodstock and the 90s in my story The Competition I felt right to write a story set in the 80s.

An LGBTQ+ story about the 80s immediately made me think of the aids crisis.

There's a Swedish comedian and author called Jonas Gardell who happens to be gay. He wrote a book called Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar (Never Dry Tears Without Gloves) about his friends that died of aids in the 80s. It's such a heartbreaking, beautiful story. It was turned into a mini-series too. If you can find it, watch it!

His story inspired my Larry story. I didn't copy the storyline. It's more the feel of it.
