Chapter 7: Combat Trials

Izuku POV: Year 04 12th April

Its the second day of school. And we are in the middle of English class. UA doesn't just teach you how to be a hero. Since its a school it has to teach core subjects. Generally done in the mornings. Ultima, Milim and Carrera seem bored. Speaking of. Carrera and Bakugo had an odd interaction when they saw each other.

Flashback to the start of the day.

Bakugo had arrived quite early. Most people as they came in commenting on how they were surprised Bakugo was still alive. Agitating him but he never spoke back.

Carrera enters the room. Bakugo seeing her got up. And was about to bow and apologize. Izuku already shocked by the mere fact he was actually about to do that. But he was stopped by Carrera.

Carrera: "That's enough. It was a good fight. Your strong. You beat me. It's that simple. Next time I'll make it even? Got it?"

Carrera seemed neutral and even smiled at Bakugo. He stood up a little wide eyed but then smiled back.

Bakugo: "Looking forward to it Carrera."

Carrera: "I won't lose next to Bakugo."

Everyone - Carrera/Bakugo: "Did they just use each others names?!"

Milim: "Seems those two have grown to respect one another."

Izuku: "I didn't even think that was possible for Kacchan..."

Back to the present.

But now. Something else has caught my attention. One of the members of our class. Himiko Yokina. She hasn't talked to anyone all day. Avoiding conversation as best she can. Come to think about it. She didn't talk at all yesterday either. During the first break I asked some other members of the class. And she was a complete mystery. No one knew her. I figure she might be lonely. I know what its like not to have friends. But if I can get her to open up. Maybe I can help her.

The bell rings as they were going into their second break of the day. Right before hero training. As everyone was leaving and Himiko was packing her things as Izuku approached her desk.

Izuku: "Hey. Yokina right? Nice to meet you. The names Izuku Midoriya."

Izuku puts out a hand but the girl simply gets up with her stuff.

Himiko: "Sorry. I have a meeting with the guidance councillor schedule before next class. I shouldn't miss it."

Izuku: "Oh. Sorry. If you don't mind me asking. What's the meeting about?" 

Himiko: "I have some things I need to finish working through before I can live a normal life... Now I really gotta go."

Izuku was left confused. Still processing by the time she left. Ultima had stayed behind and witnessed the conversation. Milim and Carrera not even realising those two weren't with them.

Ultima: "Yokina..."

Izuku: "Something wrong Ultima?"

Ultima: "That name sounds familiar... I think my dad mentioned it once or something. Something about a friend of his if I recall correctly?"

Izuku: "Hmmm."

Suddenly Milim and Carrera come back.

Milim: "You two! What's taking so long!"

Ultima: "Hey Milim. Do you remember anything about the family name Yokina by chance?"

Milim: "Hmmm... Oh yeah! It was the family name of a friend dad graduated as a hero with!"
