Interviews

Walking to the gates, I couldn't help but openly gape at the site of this house... No mansion. This place beat my apartment by a landslide and way more. Walking to the speaker, I kept my eyes on the ivory walls that towered over everything. Pressing the intercom button, I said "Ummm, hello? I'm here for the the nanny interview." I spoke as comely as possible, but I couldn't help but let a little nervousness leak into my voice. I stood up a little straighter even though no one can see me.

While waiting for an answer, I looked down at my outfit feeling a little underdressed in my faded blue jeans and jean vest over my white shirt that puffed out at the shoulders. Finally after what felt like hours a man answered me. "Hello. You may come in now master William is ready for you."

Wondering how I was supposed to go in with the big gates blocking my way, and as if on cue, they started to open up slowly as if to add affect to the wealth of this place. Holding on tightly to messenger bag strap, I walked through the gates to the front door where there was a man who looked vaguely familiar was standing.

As I got closer I realized it was the man who knocked me over earlier that week on my "D-day". He seemed to realize it too since his eyes got slightly larger at the sight of me. He quickly composed himself though and said, "well... Hello madam nice to see you well. My name is Jamison and I am Master William's butler. If you please just follow me." He turned around quickly and I had to fast walk just to keep up. He started talking and I tried to listen. "This house was made in the late 19th century and has been passed down from father to son and once father to daughter. Master William is a busy man keeping up the family lawyer business. He has five kids, two girls three boys. He takes time out of his BUSY schedule to interview each nanny. His office is in the west wing and is off limits unless you are called there. If you have any questions ask me personally but that is only if you get the position. Do you understand?" He abruptly turned around making me smack into him and fall over yet again.

"Didn't I tell you to stop making innocent girls fall over?" I said in a sarcastic playful way. I saw a hint of a smile play on his face before it went back to a neutral expression and helped me up. Back on my feet I realized we we were at "master" William's office.

"This is where we must say goodbye. You may go in when you are ready." With that he left me standing in front of the office holding the man the holds my fate of having the job. Wiping my sweaty palms off on my pants I opened the door slowly as if waiting to actually hear him let me in. Since that seemed to not come I walked inside to see a man in his early thirties. His hair was a light brown that was in curls but not extravagant but small and barely noticeable. His eyes were a deep shade of green that popped against his slightly pale face. All in all, he was a handsome man.

"Good evening, Ms. Miridy. Please, sit down. I only have a couple of questions and the we will start the evaluation." He said in a slight Irish accent. I went to the desk and took the seat right in front of him. In the corner of my eye, I see my hands are white with how tight I am holding the strap of my bag. I look up at William and I nod as if to say I'm ready.

"Ok, first question. What made you want to take this job?" I thought of this before I got here and decided to tell the truth so it won't come biting me in the butt in the near future. "Earlier this week I found out I was.... Barren. And all I ever wanted was to take care of a child and this is the closest I probably will ever get. And please don't think of me as one of those stalker girls who are obsessed with another mans child like on a Lifetime movie. All I want to do is just know how a mother would feel even in the smallest ways like this."

He gave me a look that says he understands but is still a little bit wary. "Would you be able to put almost all your time into the kids except on Sundays, which would be your off day?" "Yes, I don't really have a life anymore. The joy of being me." "Well okay, the final question is do you have a license to drive the kids to school?" "Yes, I got my license at sixteen but I don't have a car. I am more of a walker but I do know how." I said with a hint of a smile. He smiled back too seemingly happy with my answers.

"Okay, now all we need to do is the evaluations. In this, for the rest of the after noon you will be with the children getting to know them. I will have Jamison supervise you for the period of time. Any questions?" He said. I was a little scared to meet them. Shaking my head no he got up from behind his desk and stood up. I couldn't help but notice how tall he was. He looked to be about 6 foot 4". He gestured for me to follow him. I quickly got up and followed him. it seemed like hours till we finally entered a room. I was a little confused with all the twists and turns we did.

When we entered the room I saw five kids all lined up in a row by age as it looked. Everyone of them except the youngest seemed to already hate me.

Well... this is going to be interesting .
