My heart is skipping beats like it's learning how to come to a complete stop. My mouth is sewn shut eagerly waiting for the opportunity to break the strings and cheer on my heart. My nails dig into my neck like they're running for an exit. My ears are numb from the silence. My lips hold words like a leaky faucet holds water. My heels attack the hardwood like a woodpecker. My legs are tied like a knot.
Blood rushes to face to scrape off the mask.
Sweat freezes before it drops off my skin.
Tears greet my eyelids like the tides.
I beg Mother Earth for an earthquake to offset my quivering body, so I can finally feel love once again.
