It has been over a year since Will Byers was rescued from the Upside Down, and Eleven sacrificing herself to defeat the Demogorgon and everyone had returned to their Normal life or what was left of that atleast
Maverick had had a huge growth spurt meaning he no longer fit in his old clothes. During the weekend he took some of his dad's money and went to the mall to get some new clothes. Sure his dad beat the shit out of him when he found out but in Mavericks opinion it was worth it
Life in Hawkins wasn't as bad as the boy thought it would be. He made friends and he's part of the party. Leo is now 4 years old and hangs out a lot with Nancys younger sister Holly. They were basically brother and sister to be honest.
The only thing bad that had happened other than the Demogorgan thing was that his dad had gotten worse
There were times where he'd randomly lash out or get mad and of course Maverick was the one to get the end of it.
He made sure to keep his little brother far away from their dads mess
"Hey Leo I'm going to the arcade so do you wanna go to the wheelers today?"
"Can we get ice cream after?" he asked pouting
"Definitely I'll come pick you up then we can go get ice cream" Maverick said picking Leo off the floor and placing him on his shoulders
"All aboard the rocket ship we are ready for lift off" he pretended to fly Leo around the house and laughter filled the air
"HEY! Keep it down in there I'm tryna sleep!" Their dad yelled drunkenly
Maverick rolled his eyes as he placed Leo back on the floor to let he play with his toys
He began to pack Leo's bags with the essentials and some of his toys
"You ready to go bud we gotta be real quiet ok?" Maverick said as the creeped down the stairs
Leo nodded his head covering his mouth with his hands
They snuck out of the house and walked next door to the wheelers house.
There Mrs Wheeler opened the door for them and welcomed them in
"Oh my goodness hey boys I was waiting for you guys to come."
Maverick could never tell her the real reason why he would never leave Leo in the house with his dad so instead he just made up a lie saying he was working
Mrs Wheeler brought Maverick in a hug they picked up Leo from the floor and started flooding him with kisses. In a way Mrs Wheeler was the mum Leo never got to experience and Mavericks second mum.
"Michael! Maverick is here time to go!" She yelled to upstairs
Down came Mike rushing down the stairs Nancy not far behind him
He grabbed Maverick by the shirt and dragged him out the door
"Bye Mrs Wheeler!" He yelled as Mikes dad was yelling at Nancy and his son
"Hey no running in the house!"
"Mike get back here!" Nancy yelled but Mike had already left after telling Maverick to catch up to him
"What happened I don't think I've ever seen you run a day in your life"
Nancy slapped the back off his head "Mike stole my money, such an asshole"
" oh shit for real! I gave him that idea I didn't think he'd actually follow through with it" Maverick said
Nancy eyed the boy harshly, she was about to hit him again but he quickly hopped on his bike and peddled away
