The Mysterious Path// Eddie X reader

Part 9

It was now dark outside as we followed behind Dustin to find the gate. By this time I was using my powers to fly after them since my feet were hurting and I did not feel like walking anymore. Eddie and I have talked the entire walk and turns out we both have a taste for the same music. Dustin pushes a bush out of the way as he looks at the compass excitedly "Something's happening." he smiles. "Dustin? Can you slow down?" Eddie speaks as he follows behind Dustin as do the others "Dustin?" Dustin looks back as he walks "I think we're getting close" I fly in front of Dustin pushing him back so he doesn't touch the water and he bumps into Eddie who holds him still. "Watch where you're going, Dustin" I land on the ground looking out into the water. 

"Oh, man" Steve groans "You gotta be shitting me."  "Yeah" Eddie replies. We all gather in a line at the shore as we look off into the water. "Lover's Lake" Robin says. "Yup, just like I said." I sigh looking at the others. "Theirs a gate in Lover's lake?" Max asks confused. I nod "Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening" Nancy replied. "Maybe Vecna's the same way?" I ask not really sure. 

"Yeah, only one way to find out" Steve says as Eddie takes the tarp off of the boat he had left here. Steve and Eddie both put the boat in the water, Steve carefully, Eddie not so much. *I chuckle softly seeing them argue. Robin steps into the boat using both Steve and Eddie's heads to help her into the boat. I laugh softly seeing that, Eddie follows into the boat then Nancy and lastly Dustin tries stepping in only for Eddie to stop him. 

"Hey, hey, hey, you trying to sink us?" I look at Eddie like how a mother scolds her children "This thing hold three people tops, okay?"  sigh shaking my head. "It's better this way, okay? You guys stay here with Max. Keep an eye out for trouble." Nancy tells Dustin who just complains. "You keep an eye out." Nancy gives him a look "It's my goddamn theory." I hold my hand up "Uh technically, I'm the one who said where it was." Dustin rolls his eyes "Whatever okay?" 

"You heard Nance." Robin states. "Who put her in charge?" Dustin points to Nance. "I did" Robin states as though it was clear. Nancy hold her hand out for the compass "Compass?"  Dustin reaches into his pocket making a grumpy face giving it to her. Steve grabs the backpack "Hey, here ya go." he throws it to Dustin who catches it. Steve pushes the boat out then jumps in the boat last minute. "You said three!" Dustin complains. "Sorry" Steve whispers. 

As the boat goes out farther Robin yells out "Bedtime at 9 kiddos" while Dustin flips her off. "Miss you already." She says as she stands and waves at them. "Well at least you're here right, y/n?" Dustin looks over at me. I'm already floating in the air above the water. "Oh come on!" He yells as I fly after the others on the boat. I laugh at Dustin "Sorry, not sorry Dustin!" I fly next to the boat smiling at the others. 

"Didn't think I'd let you idiots look for the gate without protection right?" I smirk at them. They all chuckle besides Steve who rolls his eyes. I smile at Eddie as he smiles at me. As we reach the middle of the lake Nancy tells us to slow down "Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down guys." We all look at the compass as it goes haywire. I look back down at the water "Well I guess now we know where it is. I'll go check it out." I say as I get near the water. 

Steve takes off his shoes the socks "Steve what are you doing?" Nancy asks confused. "Well somebody's gotta check this thing out-" he starts but I cut him off "Yeah, me" he shakes his head "Yeah not by yourself you're not." he stands and takes his shirt off. "Hey, I'm not complaining. I do not wanna go down there" Eddie states while pulling out a bag from his pocket. I notice Nancy checking out Steve and nudge Robin who sees too and we smirk at each other. 

Eddie hands a flashlight wrapped in a plastic bag over to Steve who grabs it thanking him. "Well see you down there." I say and dive into the water "y/n wait-" I hear Eddie say before going into the lake. I swim down and after a few seconds I hear a splash and see a light. I look back seeing Steve, we both nod at each other and swim down to the bottom while Steve holds the flash light and I use my powers to see. 

We swim all the way to the bottom at first all we see are a bunch of skeleton fish. I signal Steve to go one way while I go the other and he nods. I swim a few feet behind us seeing a red light. I tap Steve and point to the light both of us swimming towards it. Steve and I stop seeing the gate, My eyes grow a little wide, we both look at each other. Steve swims a little closer reaching his hand out to the gate. He touches the slimy part but then pulls his hand away when we see something hit the other side of it. He swims backward and points to me to go up. I nod and we both kick off the ground swimming to the top. 

Once we reach the top we're both panting and breathing heavily scaring the others. "Oh Christ!" Eddie yells getting scared. "We found it" Steve says as we both swim to the boat holding onto the edge. "You found it?" Nancy asks "Yeah, we found it alright. It was big and red just like I've seen it before." I state holding myself up on the boat. Robin talks to Dustin through the walkie. I look into the water felling something off ignoring what the others are saying. 

"Hey, guys." I call out for their attention to which they simply ignore me besides Eddie. "I look at them "Guys!" I yell out and they all look at me "Something isn't right." I shake my head. They all look at each other then at me "What do you mean?" Robin asks. "Okay out of the water, y/n" I nod "Steve first." Steve looks at me confused but climbs out of the water regardless. "Alright now you, y/n" Eddie hold his hand out to me and as I reach for his hand I get pulled under water. 

I come back up since I was holding the boat "Help-" I get pulled back under water as I hear the others yelling for me. I look down seeing a vine pulling me towards the gate. No not again  I think to myself and try kicking up the water. I throw a fireball at it to which it lets go and shoots past me grabbing Steve's ankle dragging him down faster. I swim after him as fast as I can hearing the others jump into the water. I go through the gate breathing is deeply hearing Steve groaning and screaming. 

I quickly stand up and use my speed to catch up making my claws appear ripping the vine off of Steve's ankle. Steve pants and groans catching his breath "You okay?" I hold my hand out to him which he takes as I help him up "Yeah, never better." He complains. We both look around us the at the sky, everything looks grey with red lightning. "Looks like I'm back" I sigh. Steve and I turn around hearing screeches, we see a few bats flying towards us and I groan "God I hate those things" Steve steps back and I step in front of him. 

My hands glow blue as I get ready to defend me and him but before I do a vine wraps around my ankle and throws me across the deserted lake. I scream getting caught off guard and land on the hard ground getting the wind knocked out on me. I can hear Steve fighting off the bats then his screams as they catch him. I blink softly feeling dizzy then stand up catching my breath. Nancy, Robin and Eddie show up beating the bats as Steve stands up taking his anger out on one of the bats. 

I start walking back towards them, I can hear them talking but have no idea what they are saying. Eddie looks around and sees me, his worried face calms down slightly when he sees me but then gets worried again when new bats show up along with the others surrounding the gate. I fly up in the sky going towards them seeing them getting ready to fight but then see a swarm of bats coming their way. I land in front of them protectively, my hands glow blue making a force field around them. I look at them "Run. I'll hold them off" I look back getting ready to attack. 

"What are you crazy? No!" Eddie complains. "Just go! I'll find you later." Nancy looks back "The woods." "Great. More running" Robin complains. Steve, Robin and Nancy run towards the woods while Eddie stands there for a second before grabbing my face and kissing me. My eyes widen slightly not expecting that, he pulls away kissing my cheek. "Come back to me." I nod softly and he runs off following the others. I look back at the bats getting closer as they screech. "Bring it on bitches!"
