The proposal

Xavier's POV

I was at my office thinking about those grey eyes
When a knock came on my door

It was my assistant Jones
He approached my table and told me that I had a visitor
"Why didn't you call me" I  said
"I did call but you didn't pick up" jones said
"Bring them in " I said
My eyes trailed Jones figure out of the office he was like a younger brother to me and he was also one of the people that made me quit the illegal business
I heard a soft knock on the door
Followed by the woman who made me see that there was still light in this dark world
"Laura" I said feeling a warm sensation in my heart
After jones she was the closest thing I had to a family
She looked so thin compared to the last time I saw her
Laura stretched her arms requesting for a hug
I came out of my chair then headed to her
I never hugged anyone but she was different....when I was little I addressed her as mom
But now I don't
I hugged her gently, She broke the hug then told her to take a sit
"What brings you here Mrs Brian" I asked
She looked up at me with tears in her eyes
That wasn't expected because I had never seen her cry before
The last time I saw her was 10 years ago

"I have a request for you" Laura said
"I have been living with cancer for 12 years now" She said
I was taken back by her confession I wanted to ask a lot of questions but I decided to let her finish
"I have a daughter she is fresh out of college" she said
I really didn't know where this was going to
"And from my result it says that I'll be dead by the end of this month" she stated bursting into tears
I stood up from my seat then knelt in front of the woman I considered a mother
"Do you want me to protect your daughter Mrs Brain" I asked sounding unsure
"Not just protecther I want you to marry her" Laura said in a low voice
I stood up from my knees then headed to the big glass windows
I looked at the city with alot of thoughts in my head
"Please Xavier I really need to protect her..you of all people knows that I have more than enough enemies"
She said
"Xavier" she says folding her hands and kneeling down
I just couldn't find the strength to shoot her head off
So I went to her
"I'll think about it Mrs Brian"
I said in the softest way possible
She looked at me with her grey eyes filled with hope
For a moment it felt like I was looking at my angel
She stood up immediately and thanked me
Before she headed out of my office I called out her name
"Happy mother's day" I said feeling a little emotional
She smiled at me and thanked me for the hundredth time today
Before leaving my office

I put on my usual cold face immediately she left my office then called my assistant
"I want you to find the daughter of that woman" I said
"Sir, can I get a name" jones said
I didn't even ask of her name
"I don't know her name" I said
"Ok sir, what about a picture"
He asked
"There is no fucking picture just get out and do as I told you" I said releasing all of my frustration on jones
He was already used to it
He slightly bowed his then left my office

It was still a early so I decided to do some office work to get my mind off some things
Then I remembered when laura said that her daughter was fresh out of college
She is still a baby compared to me a 28 year old man

Stacey's POV

I was still in the kitchen when I heard the door open
I had cried so much my head was starting to hurt
"Stacey" my mom said
"Mom" I said running up to her
I hugged her tight bursting into tears again
She hugged me back and she started crying
"I can explain" my mom said
"You don't need too.....you lied to me and you betrayed me" I told my mom
I could feel my heart literally breaking
My words held venom in them which am sure strike my moms heart
"Please don't say that" my mom said trying to reach me
But I took a step back word
This made her cry more
"You have been keeping this from me for 12 fucking years mom" I said my voice rising with each word

My mother looked so shattered it took me all my strength to not run to her and hug her
But I really needed to be alone
I left her building without saying goodbye
I could still ear her soft whimpers
I wiped the stray tear on my face then headed to my car

I really needed comfort and the only person that can give me that was Stuart
I drove to his house then le t myself in
I saw on the floor a woman's bra
I knew stuart was having fun with one of his whore
So I decided to leave but a voice stopped
"Stacey" Stuart said
He just finished showering because his hair was damp and he was wearing nothing but a towel hanging low on his waist

"Stuart" I said in a whisper trying my best to hold my dang tears
But I just couldn't I ran towards him then gave him a hug
I felt him wrap his hands around me
While I cried in his chest
"What's the Matter" Stuart said after he realised I was starting to calm down
"M..mo...mom" I said stammering
I pulled out of the hug
Then Stuart wiped my tears away
"Go shower first then you can tell me what happened" Stuart said
"I don't have clothes" I said
Then Stuart went to his room while I was trying to compose myself
He came back downstairs with a shirt and shorts
He handed them to me
I headed to the bathroom then closed the door and sighed
I closed my eyes trying to calm my self down
"Baby" I heard a very high pitched voice call out
"Take the money and fucking get out" Stuart said to whom I presume was his whore friend
"But babe I don't wanna leave it's so late" she said
Why was her voice so high pitched
"Just leave maya....okay fucking leave" Stuart said
I heard a purr before I heard the heels fading towards the mansions door

I came out of the shower then looked at myself through the mirror
I sighed then wore the clothes Stuart gave to me

When I came out of the bathroom I shivered from the cold
I saw Stuart who was already wearing sweatpants arranging the bed couch
And I saw snacks everywhere
The tv was already turned on
I walked towards him
I guess he heard my steps then he turned around
With a smile playing on his lips
I smiled back at him

I sat down at the edge of the bed
He also followed then sat beside me
"Mom has been living with cancer for the past 12 years" I said to Stuart
His mouth parted in shock
"Oh my god stace" stuart said holding my hands
"Am sorry" he said wiping the tear that escaped from my eyes

I buried my head in his chest trying to calm myself down

"I think I made a mistake by trying to make you watch a movie" Stuart said
"No I really want to take my mind off things" I said
I laid on one side of the bed while Stuart went to pick movie
I didn't bother asking the name I just wanted to forget the pains my heart was going through at the moment
