In this story, all the main characters are 16. In the UK you can also pretty much legally drink at 16.
Background context: Devon moved fairly recently to a new state where she joined a pretty rubbish football team. They trained to be a lot better and become a great team. She and Mirabel dislike each other because Mirabel is sarcastic and triggers Devon by being obnoxious , barely ever turn up to training ,in the past,and generally constantly pretends like she doesn't care about anything. Devon recently badly injured her ankle during the last football season.
