Prom season was fast approaching, and I had no plans to go with anyone. I didn't mind the idea of going alone, but during chemistry class, I found myself sitting next to Daniel, Harry, and Josh.

"So, what are your plans for prom?" Josh asked, looking excited since he had a date.

"I don't have any plans," I replied, shrugging.

Daniel's eyes lit up. "Heather, I was thinking, maybe...potentially...like, rhetorically...maybe you could go with one of us...potentially, but it's on you," he stumbled over his words.

I couldn't help but smile at his adorable stuttering. "That sounds great, Daniel," I said, feeling a little excited at the idea of going to prom with someone.

As the bell rang for lunch, I made my way over to Jessica's table, who was also planning to go to prom alone. "Hey, Jessica," I said, taking a seat across from her. "Would you like to go as Harry's date? He and Daniel are my old friends, and I want to give them a moment to remember."

Jessica's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea! I'd love to," she said, grinning.

The excitement for prom was building up, and I spent the next few days searching for the perfect dress. Finally, I found a beautiful long, purple prom dress with a corset and a front cut, which I paired with matching heels.

As I showed Jessica my dress, I couldn't help but bring up a strange idea. "Hey, Jessica, I have a weird idea. What if I kissed Daniel after prom? It could give him some confidence, but I know it's weird since he's my friend. I hope you don't mind. This doesn't mean I'm gay," I said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Jessica raised an eyebrow but didn't seem too bothered by it. "I mean, it's up to you, but are you sure about it? You don't want to make things awkward between you two," she replied.

"I guess you're right, but I mean, he won't ever see me after senior year anyway. It could be a harmless little thing," I said, trying to convince myself.

Jessica nodded thoughtfully. "I see your point. Just make sure it's what you really want and that you're not just doing it for his sake."

I smiled at her. "Thanks, Jess."

The day of prom had finally arrived, and I felt both nervous and excited. Jessica had booked a limousine for us, and the boys were going to pick us up from her house. We took pictures together, and Daniel seemed particularly nervous.

"I don't know if I'm out of line, but you look gorgeous," he said, adjusting his tie.

I smiled, feeling flattered. "Aww, thanks. You look handsome too," I replied, straightening his collar.

As we arrived at the venue, everyone was already dancing and having a good time. I was ecstatic to see my classmates looking all glamorous and stunning in their dresses and suits. As the night went on, we had the senior year award show, and to my surprise, I won seven awards, including Most Influential, Most Likely to Be a Model, and Best Hair.

As the night went on, the excitement in the room continued to build, and it was finally time for the announcement of the prom king and queen.

"The moment we've all been waiting for," the announcer said, "the prom king and queen are...Heather and Daniel!"

My heart leaped with joy as I heard my name, and I turned to Daniel, who was grinning from ear to ear. We made our way to the dance floor as the crowd cheered and applauded.

As we stood there, basking in the limelight, I couldn't help but feel a surge of happiness. This night was already turning out to be one of the best of my life, and being crowned prom queen only made it better.

After the announcement, Daniel took my hand, and we danced to a slow song, surrounded by the other students. We swayed to the music, lost in the moment and in each other's eyes.

As the song came to an end, I looked up at Daniel and gave him a small smile. "Thank you for being here with me tonight," I said. It was then that I decided to execute my plan. I turned my head to face him, and for a moment, I hesitated before going through with it. But I knew it was for the best. I leaned in and gave him a kiss that lasted a while, and Jessica made sure to record it.

After the kiss, Daniel's face turned beet red, and I couldn't help but laugh. "Are you okay?" I asked him.

He nodded, still a bit dazed. "Yeah, I'm good.

That was unexpected, but it was nice," he replied, a hint of a smile on his lips.

As the night wore on, the party slowly died out, and we decided to call it a night. We returned to Jessica's house exhausted but with big smiles on our faces, grateful for the unforgettable memories we had made.
