"Alessia is doing okay, we had to explain what happened to her a few days ago. We tried to hide it as long as possible but she wouldn't stop asking about you so Vincent had to tell her. She is hopeful, her innocence helps. She keeps saying how she is going to cook you pancakes with Vince for breakfast when you wake up from your nap." I put my hand over Jasper's. "So please wake up, Jasper. I can't do this without you, none of us can."

I hadn't dared to visit him until now, my heart broke every time I saw him. What I did to him. I still blamed myself, I would never stop. I tried I really did but I couldn't. I looked at his pale face, felt his cold skin against my own, and saw how everything he once was seemed to be gone and I couldn't stop thinking about how it was all my doing.

"I promise I will look out for her for as long as you need but don't give up, please, not yet. Stay with us, stay with me." Tears run down my cheeks without restraint. "I love you, you are my best friend. You made me understand what friendship means." I said between sobs, telling him everything I should have told him before.

"Eve, come on. Let's go home." I didn't even hear Vincent getting inside the room. It was when he spoke that I noticed he was behind me, his hands over my shoulders.

I instantly turned around, buried my head in his chest, and kept on crying, his shirt stuck to my face due to the tears, and his arms wrapped around me. Holding me so I wouldn't fall to the ground.

"It's okay, everything will be okay." He said even if we both didn't believe it.

Nothing was okay and it wouldn't be for as long as Jasper was still in here. He was our rock and without him nothing made sense. Every night we tortured Enzo looking for some kind of information, slowly we were getting inside his head. I could tell because I knew him better than anyone but he was fighting us back so hard. He still believed my father saved him and I started to think that maybe I underestimated their bond. Maybe it was stronger than what we initially thought and that gave us the upper hand.

We came up with a plan, we would try to get in contact with my father. Make a deal that we would give him Enzo back if he promised to step back from our side of New York. It was a simple deal, one we know he would never go through but that was the idea. We wanted Enzo to know my dad will never choose him, not even over the smallest most insignificant thing. We needed one last touch for him to break. And knowing my dad he would find a way to give us exactly that.

"Let's go amore, we can come back tomorrow." Vincent tried but when he saw I wasn't moving he gently picked me up and carried me away from the room.

I was so tired, tired of crying, tired of having to do this without him that I didn't even notice I fell asleep in Vincent's arms. It was when I woke up in our bed due to the last rays of sun coming through the window landing directly on my face that I did. Vince was lying at my side, his hand on my hip but leaving me enough space.

"Are you okay?" He asked knowing that I was awake.

He knew me better than anyone, every action, movement, and thought.
