Hyunjin entered the King's study after a servant told him that his husband requested his presence.

"My lord, I was told you wished to see me." Hyunjin bowed his head and folded his hands in front of him.

Hyunjin then saw a familiar face.

The servant that was in his chambers that night when Hyun-Jae...got angry with him.

Hyunjin then looked to the king who was already staring at him through furrowed brows and intimidating unreadable expression. Hyunjins breathing hitches as he hope that the servant hasn't breathed a word about that night.

"Leave us," Chan commanded. The servant bowed and as she made her exit she kept her head low as she passed Hyunjin.

The sound of the door shutting made him stiffen. "Hyunjin..." Chan began.

Oh, gods no. Please don't say what I think you're going to say—please anything but that—

"When were you going to tell me?" Chan asked. Hyunjin started to pick at the skin around his fingernails, a habit he had developed in childhood whenever he felt anxious or was being scolded.

"My lord?" Hyunjin hesitantly looked up to meet Chan's serious gaze. "I don't know w-what you mean—"

"Hyun-Jae," Chan uttered, finding the name alone revolting. When the servant told him about what she saw when she went to the prince's chamber, It took all his restraint to not kill him. The king had never heard anything so foul.

Chan rose from his desk and circled around to face Hyunjin. Hyunjin pressed his nail too deeply into his skin, causing it to bleed, yet he did not flinch; the physical pain paled in comparison to what he anticipated Chan would say next.

"Is he hurting you?" Chan asked softly, concern lingering in his voice.

Hyunjin inhaled shakily. Chan looked down at Hyunjins hands, seeing how red the skin around his nails were. "Stop that. You're hurting yourself." Chan places his hand in between Hyunjins making him stop.

Hyunjin looked up at his husband with glistening eyes of shame and sadness. "Do you wish for him to leave the palace? Tell me, and it shall be done." Chan's voice was gentle and calm.

"N–No...No, I can handle him," Hyunjin replied, fearing that it would upset his brother more.

"Hyunjin—"

"No! It's fine he's just—"

"Just what? The things that the servant told me made me feel sick. Why didn't you come to me—"

"Because I was ashamed! Because I was afraid—afraid you wouldn't believe me." Hyunjin sobbed.

Chan suddenly pulled Hyunjin into an embrace. Wrapping his arms tightly and protectively around his waist. Hyunjins breath hitched in his throat.

"You are my wife. My mate. Of course, I would believe you. It hurts me knowing that you were afraid to come to me and just dealt with it on your own." Chan spoke.

Hyunjin closed his eyes as more tears fell and began to wet Chan's black tunic. "I will ask you once more...do you wish him for him to leave?"

Chan's heart cracked when he felt Hyunjin shake his head softly against his shoulder. He was so confused as to why Hyunjin did want him gone.

Hyunjin consistently showed his brother care and love, yet he only received his venom. Despite this, Hyunjin remained hopeful that one day Hyunjae would return the same affection...

Chan took Hyunjin to the infirmary to tend to his hands. He watched attentively as the physician applied ointment around his nails and secured a small bandage around his fingers.

Queen Rhaella Targaryen died on her birthing bed when giving birth to Hyunjin. Hyun-Jae told himself just minutes before her passing that he would always love and protect his new sibling.

He was ecstatic when he heard that his new little brother was born, but when he snuck into the birthing room, he saw his mother covered in blood, and sheets bloodied as well. Her body was lifeless and his father was at her side, he then looked at the midwife who had tears in her eyes both happy and sad as she held Prince Hyunjin in her arms.

Hyun-jae had tears in his eyes as well. He glared at the squalling infant with such hatred. He killed his mother, which was all Hyunjae could think.

Lucaenor noticed his older son was in the room and he immediately yelled for him to get out.

That night Hyun-Jae got on his knees before his bed and prayed to the gods to bring back his mother and to take Hyunjins life in exchange.

He cried and begged them to return her back to him. But none of his prayers were answered...

That night when Hyunjin was in his crib in the nursery staring up at the ceiling and cooing softly, Hyun-Jae walked in, grabbed a pillow, and walked over to the crib.

"You are a monster. You should never have been born." Hyun-Jae said through gritted teeth.

Before Hyun-Jae could attempt to suffocate the newborn prince the wet nurse walked into the room and she gasped in horror.

"Your Highness!" She exclaimed, Hyun-Jae only glared at her and then back at his brother. He dropped the pillow to the ground and pushed past the wet nurse.

The poor woman only thought that maybe the prince was too young to know what he was about to do.

Hyun-jae was only five. He was young but he wasn't stupid. He wanted Hyunjin gone.

As Hyunjin got older he was starting to become more beautiful as he grew, it wasn't long before he presented as an omega. Hyun-Jae then felt a sudden ownership over him.

That he was his and no one else. Lucaenor noticed the way Hyun-Jae looked at Hyunjin and it made him sick. There has never been incest in their bloodline, and it wasn't going to start now.

Lucaenor confronted his oldest son about the way he looked at Hyunjin and told him it wasn't appropriate to which Hyun-Jae simply replied, "Why shouldn't we wed father? Other kingdoms have done it, it keeps the bloodline pure."

Hyun-jae grew more bitter and angry when his father denied him from marrying Hyunjin. Hyun-jae would never forgive Hyunjin for murdering his mother.

He hated him even more because he couldn't have him.
