She didn't say anything when I walked in, rolling my little cart of horrors. I'd expected her to yell, or ask why, or something. Instead, she just stared, her dark eyes burning with confusion and rage. A demon had already chained her to the table, her ankles and wrists strapped down to a table. I smiled at her, keeping my face cold and void of emotion. I knew Abbadon was watching. I knew that she was listening. I needed to do this. I needed to save everybody.
"Hello, Raven. Long time no see, huh?" I said in an upbeat tone, pretending to enjoy toying around my family. She bared her teeth at me, refusing to look me in the eyes.
"So they weren't lying, then? You really did..." she almost whimpered, and I giggled.
"I diiiiiid! I have so much more fun here!" The look she gave me nearly split open what little of a heart I had left.
"You're not Aria. She's possessed, give her back," Raven cried, biting her lip to hold back tears. I tensed quickly before pacing closer to the table.
"Sorry to say, but this is me. I was always a bit messed up, though. Did you know, that when Abbadon ruined my life and I was alone, that I tried to kill myself?" I admitted shamelessly, shrugging my shoulders. Raven gaped up at me, looking wrecked. God, I wished that I could do something. To help her. To save her. But all I could do was continue to put on a show.
"You... Aria..." Raven gasped out, her eyes starting to water.
"Yeah, it was pretty morbid. I mean, you and Phoenix were off doing things with your lives. I couldn't intrude, now could I? Everything was hopeless back then. Poor, fragile me," I spat, beginning to pick at the objects on my cart. Scalpels, drills and all types of torture devices lay, covered in dried blood. I kept drabbling on to a shocked Raven while trying to think of the least-painful way to torture her.
"Do you remember, when we were in grade six or seven, you helped me study for a health test?" I asked, taking her silence as a yes. "Well, I want to prove to you that I didn't cheat on that test." Raven paled, her body tensing. I slid my hand over hers, feeling the frail bones. So easily broken. I grasped her thumb gently, pinching it softly in my fingers.
"Distal phalanx," I whispered, feeling the first bone. It snapped quickly, bending grotesquely. Raven screamed, her body flinching in pain. I trailed my hands up slightly, grasping the next part of her thumb.
"Proximal phalanx," I murmured before repeating the process. Each time I broke a bone, she screamed, her face contorted in pain. I hated this, hated everything that was happening, yet the Mark flared, excited by the sound of her anguish.
This was dangerous. I hadn't killed in so long; it would be so easy to just slip up, break all of the bones in her body, to slice her up until she bled out and feel the warmth coating my hands. Her insides would be so pretty, lining the walls and painting my skin-
"Aria, please," Raven cried out, causing me to jump and snap another bone. She howled, and I giggled, leaning close to her.
"Speak again, and I'll rip out your teeth," I sighed, looking down at her mangled hand. The bones were jagged, seeming to poke out oddly at places. The sight pained me, even more so knowing that I had been the one to do that to her. When I looked back up at Raven, she had passed out, the pain putting her into a deep sleep. I pouted, putting my hands on my hips.
"Well, that's no fun," I growled. "Hey, Abbadon, can I go?" There was a moment of silence. I huffed, rolling my eyes and looking at the door expectantly. After a second, it opened, revealing Abbadon.
"You may," she corrected, and I flipped her off, pushing past and making my way to my room with a small smile.
I'd seen the way Raven's chest rose and fell.
