I saw a poet's birth

Is it poetry I'm hearing, or music playing loud?

I know I won't forget, the first time I heard the sound

Of your romantic poems, pure lyricism released.

I also know I can't express how deeply I was pleased.

Your genius yet unknown was purely for our ears.

We took it all in gladly, reminiscing over fears

That must have clung to you on stage.

And respect we later paid was just for you, encaged.
