"Are you sure you want to do this?" Zayn asked me with a hesitant look on his face.
I nodded. "We've waited for so long."
"I know." Zayn sighed.
"Come on, Lou's watching Aiden, the boys are busy, nothing's going on. It's the perfect time." I begged.
"It is the perfect time." He admitted.
"Then what's the problem?"
"I don't want you to regret it, that's all." The way Zayn was biting his lip made it seem like he was unsure of this. I would think he'd be a lot less hesitant.
"I won't, I've thought about this for a while." I rested my hand on Zayn's chest as we stood face to face in our room. Everyone was gone except for us, and I was trying to persuade him to do this with me.
"Isn't it a bit early for us to be doing this?" Zayn asked.
"Do you not want to?" I finally asked.
"I do, believe me-"
I cut him off. "You've done this a million times, so what are you worried about?" I as starting to get a bit irritated.
"It's going to hurt you, and I don't like to see you in pain. It was bad enough when your were having Aiden." He seemed to cringe at the thought of me crying out in pain or squeezing his hand numb.
"I don't care if it hurts. If I got through child birth, I can get through this." I assured him. "And it isn't even big."
"Why have you got your heart set on doing it today? There will be other opportunities." Zayn sounded like Liam, trying to reason with me.
"Oh my god can you stop acting like a dad and be Zayn for a minute?" I felt like a whiny teenager again, but I didn't care. I was going to get my way.
"I am a dad." Zayn corrected me. "And you're a mum, not a thirteen year old girl."
"Why are we arguing about this? You already promised me."
"Eve, you know I'm just as eager as you are. I only want you to be ready." Zayn sighed and kissed my forehead. "That's all. If you really want to, we can."
I nodded. "Thank you." Success!
"I guess we're getting tattoos then."
Once we'd gotten our shoes on, Zayn and I were out the door and on our way to his regular tattoo artist's shop.
We'd already agreed in advance on what we were getting done. On our pinkies, an infinity sign with Aiden's first initial on one side and then I would get a Z on the other side and Zayn would get an E. It was like a pinky promise that we'd be a family forever.
When we parked on a busy street in London, I didn't expect paparazzi to be snapping pictures of us. How did they even know we were coming to the tattoo shop?
Zayn got out and came around to open my door like a chivalrous gentleman would, and held onto my hand. I ducked my head down as the cameras flashed at us and the men shouted out questions and comments. Luckily, I couldn't understand most of it because everyone was talking at once.
Finally we were safe inside and greeted immediately with the sound of a buzzing tattoo gun and classic rock music. The walls were covered in cool pictures of, what else, tattoos. My eyes swiveled to Zayn who had seen it all before.
"This is intense." I whispered to him with wide eyes.
"Having doubts?" Zayn raised an eyebrow at me.
