I am honored to have stumbled on such masterpiece that I even used it as cover in this installment of reviews.
The story itself is unique. I like how it is giving redemption arc vibes to the convicts (not all though). I became attached to the survivors in the second half that I was disappointed in the ending. There were also deaths in the first half that made me bawl. THE AUTHOR REALLY HAD NO MERCY IN LOWERING THE BODY COUNT OF THIS MANGA. But since they were able to portray the deaths beautifully, I can't complain. I am now a Yamada Asaemon stan!
The theme may be showing flowers and bizarre flora-fauna but it was enough to give you spine-chilling pages and wonderful, eerie art similar to Hieronymus Bosch. The manga covers and official art are *chef's kiss* magnifique.
I'm surprised at how a bit of sci-fi was incorporated in the concept of Paradise, it shows that the author really did a lot of research for reference, adding a believable element in the story. I also commend the author for introducing bochu jutsu. I'm pretty sure it will be the new slang when that part is animated.
