The scorching summer sun began its descent, casting a warm glow across the landscape as Charlotte stepped out of her mom's car at the local drive-in theater. It was the last day of summer, and she had returned from her time away with a heart full of excitement and a surprise up her sleeve for her best friend, Cynthia.

Charlotte couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. She scanned the area, searching for Cynthia's familiar face among the crowd. And then she saw her, standing near a group of people, a radiant smile on her face. Cynthia looked genuinely happy, but something about her seemed different to Charlotte.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Charlotte approached her friend, a mixture of excitement, joy, and curiosity in her voice. "Hi, Cynthia," she said, her voice filled with warmth.

Cynthia turned, her eyes widening in surprise. "Charlotte? Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's you!" Cynthia exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine shock. She rushed forward and enveloped the redhead girl in a tight hug, the joy of their reunion palpable.

"I know! I wanted to surprise you" Charlotte exclaimed.

"You've surprised me, alright! I thought you'd be back at the beginning of the school year. This is amazing!"

After the initial excitement settled, Cynthia introduced Charlotte to her new group of friends, the T-birds. The T-birds were a gang of boys, full of charisma and mischief and of course, matching leather jackets. One of them, a charismatic young man named Richie, stepped forward and greeted her with a charming smile. He took her hand and placed a gentle kiss on it, introducing himself with a flourish.

"Enchanted to meet you, Charlotte. You have the name of a princess" Richie said with a twinkle in his eyes. "I've heard so much about you."

Charlotte couldn't help but blush at Richie's bold gesture. She glanced at Cynthia, who wore a surprised expression and betrayed a hint of unease. Cynthia quickly composed herself and tried to change the topic, saying, "Hey, guys, we should all get wasted tonight to celebrate little Lottie's return!"

This statement surprised Charlotte, as the last time she saw Cynthia, she wasn't one to indulge in drinking. The T-birds, however, declined Cynthia's suggestion, with Gil explaining, "Nah, tonight we're on the lookout. The T-birds are aiming to find a girl to enjoy the movie with."

As the rest of the T-birds dispersed to find their potential partners, a girl named Susan approached Richie, asking him to buy her a soda. Richie happily agreed, sensing an opportunity. He collected the keys to the car and left with Susan, leaving only Cynthia, Charlotte, and another T-bird named Shy-guy behind.

Shy-guy, looking puzzled, turned to Charlotte and said, "I must admit, I've never heard of you before. Are you new in town?"

Surprised by his statement, Lottie exchanged a glance with Cynthia, who looked guilt-ridden. "Oh, well, you know how it is," she replied, attempting to hide her disappointment. "Sometimes things don't come up in conversations. It's okay."

Feeling the need for a moment alone, she excused herself, saying she wanted to get some snacks. She asked Cynthia and Shy-guy if they wanted anything, but they both declined. With a small smile, she walked away, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions.

At the concession stand, Charlotte purchased a tub of popcorn and a cherry cola, Cynthia's favorite. As she waited in line, her thoughts drifted to how much she had missed her best friend during the summer. This was the first time they had been apart since they met at the age of five, and Alexandria hoped that their bond remained unchanged.

With snacks in hand, the redhead girl returned to the T-bird car where Cynthia and Shy-guy were waiting. As she approached, her eyes caught sight of Cynthia wearing the boy's T-bird jacket, but she chose not to mention it. Instead, she smiled and handed Cynthia the cherry cola, a surprise that lit up her friend's face. "Here, I got you this"

"Oh Lottie, cherry cola! You remembered!" Cynthia exclaimed, accepting the drink with enthusiasm. She popped the cap open and took a long sip, savoring the familiar taste.

They spent a little while hanging around, chatting and enjoying each other's company while they waited for the movie to start. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and the murmur of excitement from the other moviegoers and the gossip that was starting to go around the students from Rydell High. However, their conversation was interrupted when Richie returned to the car with Susan, reclaiming the keys.

Charlotte knew it was time to say her goodbyes. She turned to Cynthia, her voice filled with genuine concern. "I'm sorry, Cynthia, but I won't be staying for the movie. If you need a ride home later, just let me know, or you can come with me, and we can have our traditional last day of summer pajama party"

Cynthia simply shook her head, a fleeting look of excitement crossing her face. "Nah, I'll be fine. We can do the pajama party later, maybe next weekend, but right now I gotta catch up with the guys," she replied, her voice filled with eagerness as she hurried off to join the rest of the T-birds, who were aimlessly wandering around the drive-in.

Lottie couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness as she watched Cynthia runoff. She had hoped for more time together, but she understood that things had changed. It was as if her best friend had been swept away by a new world, one that Charlotte didn't quite fit into. Resolute, she pushed those feelings aside, refusing to let them consume her. She made her way to her mom's car, convincing herself that tomorrow everything would go back to normal.

As she drove home, the road stretched out before her, illuminated by the streetlights. Thoughts of the evening swirled in her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder what had caused the changes she observed in Cynthia. But she also clung to the hope that their friendship would withstand any obstacles that lay ahead.

Arriving at her house, the girl parked the car and sat in silence for a moment. Tomorrow, she thought, everything would be different. Tomorrow, she would have a chance to reconnect with Cynthia and hopefully uncover the reasons behind the changes she had noticed. With a determined smile, she stepped out of the car and made her way inside, ready to face whatever the future held for their friendship.

So here you have it, the first chapter, I don't like it a lot so it may get edited later on, but right now enjoy it, and let me know what you think about it.

Again English is not my first language, I'm sorry for any grammatical errors.
