Back then he longed for what he didn't have, a mother who was always present and freely gave affection. As a pup he didn't understand why she was the way she was or why she couldn't be like the other mothers. He was naive to the pressures brought on by power and social standing. He didn't know that with it came the need to be strong, impenetrable and free from weaknesses. As he grew, he came to realize this and even more so in the wake of his father's betrayal. It may have taken a while but it was then in those moments he longed no more and appreciated all that she was.
