The sound of a toilet being flushed brought Sarah's attention back to reality as she looked around in confusion before realizing what happened.
After putting the milk in the dumpster and triple checking everything in the room, she laid beside the door and closed her eyes to rest. At first, she thought she took a nap, but she dismissed it as she was pretty sure that wasn't a dream, but rather a memory. A memory of her first meeting with Mrs Elizabeth.
Mrs Elizabeth was one of the few people that never saw Sarah as a monster. And she was the only one which made Sarah feel like she was family. A feeling she didn't have for a long time. Since then, she has been more open than usual and have been enjoying her time with the therapist more than she should. And even after she got out of prison, got a new job and is living a new life, Sarah never ended the session as she enjoyed the feeling, the feeling of a daughter being loved by her mother.
Sarah looked at her roommate and wondered how his life will have been like if he has someone to talk to like she did. Eventually, she remembered Elizabeth's first description about her. There are always people that want to be listened and understood.
Unfortunately, Naruto never had anyone in his life to talk to. Let alone understood. Sarah frowned upon thinking about it. She didn't like those kind of treatments they're giving him. But not only did they not care, they went even further in making his life as miserable as possible.
"So, Sakura Chan." Naruto call brought her out of her train of thoughts. She saw Naruto nervously rubbing the back of his head, "Is there anything you need?" He asked curiously.
Sakura saw how Naruto was struggling and frowned. He wasn't different from her first life, but unlike her, didn't have anyone to talk to.
But now he does.
And that's her.
"So wiskers, em...." She trailed off, not used to talk to people other than her therapist. But after a while, she seems to know what to ask. "What's up with the demon nickname I've been hearing about? Do you have like a, devil trigger or something?".
She already knew the answer. She just thought it'll be more believable if it was known that Naruto was the one who told her. If he ever told her of course.
Naruto, of course, decided to play ignorant. "What are you talking about Sakura Chan?" He asked while nervously rubbing the back of his head.
He then felt a hold on his free hand and when he looked up, saw Sakura's smile, which surprisingly was genuine and family like. "It's ok. It's just the two of us. You don't have to worry about anything else while I'm here for you. I promise." She assured him.
Somehow, those words and that gesture alone was all he needed to relax, as he took a deep breath and, for the first time, truly felt at ease.
"Well, you know about the nine tails attack, right?" He asked her, which she nodded. In fact, it doesn't matter if she isn't supposed to know. As she is sure it's a common knowledge to everyone in the village. After all, if the knucklehead blond knows, then who doesn't?
Glad he doesn't have to explain about that, he continued " Well, the truth is, it's me. I'm the nine tails.". He closed his eyes and waited for any maltreatment she might give him. But it never came.
He opened his eyes to look at what was happening, and what he saw made him ask the girl in concern "Uh, Sakura Chan?"
Said girl seems to be holding her laughter as her shoulders were shaking uncontrollably while she seems to be crying. Soon she couldn't take it anymore as she burst out laughing as if she just heard the greatest joke "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
