Emancipation

They fought.
They won.
Not freedom for themselves
But for you, for me, for the Jamaican society.
They looked ahead
And saw you,
Saw me,
And all that we would be:
Shed their blood to set us free.

The life we have to day
Was paid for by the pain
They had to bear
We are free from the shackles of slavery
Thanks to the great 7
Who still live on today.

Our heroes have done enough.
Frankly, all they could
To set us free
Now it's our turn
To liberate ourselves from the shackles
With which we are bound mentally.
