My Hero

Everyone has a favourite person: a hero
Be it a friend, benefactor or saviour
I too have got a hero
Strangely, he isn't cloaked in a Marvel outfit
He rocks an ordinary t-shirt
With a tape measure
Draped around his neck, daily.

He cannot fly
He doesn't shoot darts from his eyes
Yet, he has been brought  before great men
His craft has warranted audience with:
Officers, commissioners, brigadiers
Like I said, he does not wear a cloak
But that makes him no less marvelous
Afterall, a cloak doesn't make a hero
A hero is born from his ability.

He is everything one would search for
In a man and more
He is upright, just, talented:
A man of integrity.
I cannot determine your criteria for hero
But I've searched for years
And everytime I look
One specific name pops up
At the top of my list.
He is no green lantern
Neither is he the superman you know
Regardless, he is the most marvelous hero, I know.
