On Honey's birthday, she had gone to the doctor and learned that she was six weeks pregnant, meaning her husband had gotten her pregnant on the honeymoon. She decided to keep the news to herself for a few more weeks to share with her husband for his birthday.

She had given herself time to plan the way she would tell him, but she also had to sneak her prenatal vitamins when he woke up before she did. She just was waiting on the day she would share her news.

Today was that day, and Honey had planned his birthday party for him. He told her he just wanted something simple. A kickback. So she invited his boys to the house for a barbecue and his select family members to come up from Virginia.

Honey had shared her news with her mother and father just because she just needed to tell someone about it.

Honey had thought about the way she would tell her husband that she was pregnant. Now she knew. She had gone to Kids Footlocker and picked up an all-white pair of baby sneakers because she didn't know whether it was a boy or girl yet.

She had wrapped the box up and kept it hidden in the back of their closet. She knew that those little shoes would be the best gift he'd get.

"Baby," he called, coming in the house from the barbershop.

"How can I assist you this afternoon, sir?" she wondered coolly, in their walk-in closet, looking for something to wear.

He entered the room. "Did you stop by the market and get enough food?"

Honey looked over her shoulder from picking out her outfit and looked at her husband from the corner of her eye.

"Tristan, can you relax yourself, please? I got this under control. Now get dressed because ya peoples gon be here any minute now, and I ain't got time."

Honey didn't know why Tristan was acting so pressed. That was out of his character. She had told him before he left the house that morning that she would pick up some cases of beer and whatever he wanted to throw on the grill. What was wrong with him?

Honey got her clothes laid out on the bed and went to the bathroom to go shower. When she got out, Tristan had just picked out his clothes, and Kara knocked on the door.

"Tristan, do you want me to start the grill?"

"Yes. Thank you."

Tristan went into the bathroom, and Honey started putting lotion on her body before she picked up her jeans and yellow V-neck. She pulled on her shoes just as Tristan came out wrapped in his towel.

When the doorbell rang, Honey exited the bedroom and went to let Lea, Trevor, and Anastasia in. The baby had her hair in a headband wearing a grin on her face.

"Nee!" she greeted, reaching for a hug that Honey easily gave.

Honey didn't mind the baby calling her by name, but Lea frowned. Honey had her part raising this little girl, and Lea was trying to get her to call Honey something else. She didn't even mind if she called her Mama until she could call her Bellemère, meaning stepmother. Or even just Belle for short. Bellmère literally translated was beautiful mother.

Honey leaned down to hug the little cutie. "Whewe Doddy?" Anastasia asked, looking around.

"Daddy will be down in a minute, sweetheart. Why don't you go on outside? Aunty Myia is here," Honey told her.

Anastasia started immediately for the back, and the three of them watched her go. They could hear Kara open the back door for her and greet her.

"Can I speak to you, Honey?" Lea wondered. "Actually, I need you and Tristan."
