"Damn...I'm actually so tired.." Juri mumbled as she let the now fifteenth yawn escape her lips. She covered her mouth and let out a sigh.
"We're almost there, but Lord, does this city look like ass." Her best friend Ray a half Colombian and Japanese boy standing at a height of 5'10, long hair and tan skin, said.
The two decided to move to Gotham not because of a sensible reason for work or anything.
But because they wanted to get a laugh out of it.
Both of their parents detested the idea, but they managed to convince them into letting them go- which took over a year to do.
"That's Gotham for you." Juri shrugged as the aching pain in the soles of her feet tightened.
She groaned as they had been walking for around thirty minutes now in the crack of dawn, their luggage dragging right behind their feet.
The sun was rising from the horizon, beautifully gracing itself upon Gotham city.
The light shone on the vandalised brick walls, and the litter and trash scattered around became more apparent.
The two exhausted best friends arrived at their apartment complex, Juri quirked her brow at the appearance of the building.
"It'll have to do for now." Ray said, leading the way into the building they received their key beforehand and made their way up.
The elevator was currently broken, so they had to take the stairs, taking breaths after every landing they finally arrived on their floor.
Once they entered, they looked around, taking in the place it was decently furbished with furniture.
The place had a peach and white colour aesthetic to it, fake plants present in some areas.
They settled down on the couch kicking of their shoes, and they let out a satisfied breath in sync.
"Ooh, this better not be a waste of my time." Juri said, grabbing her bonnet from her duffle and pushing her big dark red afro into it.
She turned her head towards the window that looked over most of the area. To her, everything was all blurred together.
She shut her eyes and opened them again, her short sightedness making her irritated.
"We'll be in this apartment for a while before moving closer into the main area. And you'll be going to school." He said tiredly.
Letting a smirk appear on his tan skin, he pushed away the loose strands from his ebony coloured man bun.
His dark orchid eyes glazed over the room, dark eyebags underneath.
"I knew you were going to say that."
"Your padres want you to still keep up with your education. You start in three days."
"Goodness, when are you starting your new job?" She asked, beginning to stand up.
"Next week, I'm pretty sure."He nodded, taking the hairband out of his hair.
"Alright then, I'm heading to bed." She said, slapping his leg and walking past him. She looked at her phone and saw it was forty past five.
She changed into a matching pyjama set, brushing her teeth and applying vaseline on her lips she immediately dove under her blanket.
A notification popped up on her phone, making her roll her eyes, knowing it was her brother answering a text she sent three nights ago.
She wasn't bothered to look at her phone and just closed her eyes, slipping into a deep sleep in less than a minute.

It has been a day since they arrived.
Juri woke up to a little light shining through the blinds of her room, the morning sun being blocked by the clouds.
Noise pollution from construction, cars, and multiple sounds of yelling coming from outside flooded her ears.
She let out a sigh, sitting up and rubbing her eyes she pushed up her bonnet from her face and put on her slides.
She entered the bathroom down the hall doing her usual routine. She left and went to the main area to see Ray shuffling around, bopping his head.
He was making breakfast headphones in on full volume as he listened to an old spanish song, no shirt on.
He turned around, and she nodded her head upwards towards him he did the same, plating their food.
"Thanks." She mumbled, dragging the 's' and digging into her French toast, syrup and powdered sugar on top.
"I'm thinking of going out today, maybe buy some stuff here." She shrugged, downing her ice cold apple juice.
"Careful chica, this place is pretty dangerous." Ray said, pointing his fork at her.
"Yeah, I know- awh damn..." She groaned out, looking at her notifications.
"Que?" He questioned she groaned again, letting out a chuckle as well.
"Fifteen missed calls, eight from my mom." She said, sending her mom a quick text message.
Ray snorted at this, putting back on his headphones.
Juri put away their dishes, heading into the bathroom and doing what she needed to do.
She wore black flared leggings with a beige knitted sweater and a brown and white varsity jacket.
She combed her hair out into its usual afro, putting on her rose gold framed glasses. She let her afro go out in front of her eyes.
Letting anybody look at unable to see her eyes only the bottom of her glasses.
She grabbed her phone and sprayed a bit of fragrance onto her body she yelled out to Ray before shutting the door behind her.
She made her way down the stairs, leaving the complex she stared at the dull atmosphere of Gotham.
'This place is so shit.'
