I sat on the stool dialing my sisters number
I waited for the call to go through after seeing the call was accepted
"Hey Jour!" she said sounding excited
"wsp Sky, what you so happy for?" I said chuckling
"nothinggg, i'm getting ready to meet with Jai'Lynn soon"
"What y'all meeting for?"
"Don't worry about it, worry about staying out of solitary confinement"
"I haven't been in there in a while, now answer my question stop playin Skylar"
"Where just gonna get to know each other"
"mhm" I mumbled
"cmere Moni!"
a couple seconds later she spoke again
"say hi to uncle na"
"hii na na!" Emoni said into the phone
I smiled "hey li ma, you being good for ya moma?"
"ye- don't lie to him Moni" Sky said and I laughed
"shhhh" Emoni hushed Skylar
"be good for Mama and when I see you we can get more shoes"
"more shoes uncles na and and ice cream"

Skylars baby daddy died a couple days after Emoni was born, he was out of town when someone broke into the air bnb he was staying at with some hb's. His room was the first room they went into he heard them bust in he got shot once in his chest then again, they took his watches and chains leaving him to bleed out, he called Skylar before he blacked out saying nothing but "I love you Sky don't let Emoni forget me..." before he went unconscious on the phone, he was rushed to the hospital but didn't make it
"Na'Jour you there?" Niyah asked on the other side of the phone
"2 minutes remaining" the automated voice said
"y-yea,finish getting ready I'll talk to y'all soon"
"Alright, be safe and stay outta trouble"

"say bye to na na" Sky said to Moni
"bye bye na na, we still get shoes and ice cream?"
"yes Emoni" I said laughing "bye li ma, I love you"
"Love you uncle na!" was all I heard before the time ran out
I sighed then put the phone back on the hook and got up walking back to my cell
