• "Ri" (梨) means "pear" and "ka" 花 means "flower", the "ka" 花 can also be read as "blossom". Rika's birth name literally translates to pear flower / pear blossom. A delicate and beautiful flower that blossoms during the spring season representing spiritual beauty, resilience and purity. In Taoism, they are considered sacred flowers that balance the yin and the yang.

• Prior to their arrival in Edo, both Rika and Riku can hold their liquor. As they have often drank alcohol in Horai, their tolerance for alcohol can be summed up to three to four bottles. However, on their arrival to Edo, Rika is very much surprised that women cannot just drink alcohol as they pleased even during the day.

• Rika and Riku are based off of the Taoist Immortals He-He Er Xian. They are popularly associated with happy marriages. Something that Rika frowns upon as she does not believe in love.

• Despite her unique hair color, it is still frowned upon society. Aoyagi was tempted to bring up the suggestion for Rika to dye her hair black but seeing just how much care the younger girl gave to her hair, she chose to overlook it. Letting her keep it as it is.

• As obvious as it is, Rika is quick to adapt to her surroundings. As her mentors would only demonstrate one thing at one time, Rika will be able to do it perfectly when it is her turn.
