Epilogue

I am so grateful that you've reached this point. Thank you so much. May we all realize, especially the young generation, that anchoring yourself into positivity and self-growth is never selfish.

"How about you, Jacq?

I am doing my thesis in my study room, and here they are, invading my privacy. But it is fine with me; bihira na lang kaming magkita. They are all studying in Cebu; I am here in Manila.

I scoffed. "That's bullshit."

"Sinasabi mo lang 'yan, pero baka kapag tinamaan ka, wala ka nang kawala," Maximus said as he passed the glass shot to Miles, my half-Irish friend.

"I also don't believe it; crush at first sight, puwede pa," si Leon.

"Who believes in that? We belong to the new generation now; more girls, more fun!" Miles, who's beside me, takes a look at what I'm typing. "And this guy over here will be engaged to his childhood friend, Faith. Hindi na niya kailangan ng love; Faith is already his love."

Sinikmuraan ko siya. Humalakhak siya. They knew that I don't have romantic feelings for Faith, but all of them are insisting that I just haven't noticed it. My family also likes her.

Kapangyarihan. Few people knew how powerful my family is. Few of them knew that our wealth was scattered all over the world. Cars, investments, gold, lands, artworks, liquid savings, mutual funds, real estate, and so much more Name it! We all have that. But we just stay low-key for the safety of our clan.

I saved my documents to the folder, and I sighed.

Only a stupid moron would believe that.

But I was wrong, and I'm still in denial when my eyes met that girl who was wearing a dirty white t-shirt, puffing a balloon together with a younger boy whose hair was curly as hers.

"Hey! I thought you already went home?" Alcaues had a surprised look in his face. They were playing on the green lawn. "Oh! That is Gene's daughter and son."

"Gene?"

I gazed at that kid again. I scoffed. Umiling ako. This is ridiculous!

Alcaues family belongs to the Vanguards of our ancestors. They are our elite servants; they are living to protect us.

"You like her..."

"She looks like a high school student. Passed."

He snickered. "She is. 16 pa lang daw iyan, sabi ni mommy."
