( A/n: Part 2 of When Lighting Comes. Also, I'm going to give the twins' parents personalities because, I always wanted to meet the parents of these two agents of chaos, but we never did. So, this is my head cannon to what the twins' parents could be like. )
Stormfly lands near the Great Hall, Toothless is sitting on one of the metal perches. Tida was in the crowd in front of the Great Hall with her adoptive parents, aka the twins' Mom and Dad, and Mrs. Thorston was holding the toddler in her arms as the lightning and thunder was scaring the two year old, and both parents were trying to soothe her.
Hiccup: Toothless!
Lightning strikes Toothless' perch and he leap to another one.
Mildew: Did you all see that?
Mulch: Look! The lightning is following him!
Toothless runs to Hiccup.
Hiccup: Toothless!
Mildew: Don't you all understand? Thor is mad at all of us! And I'll tell you why. Because of him! ( Points to Toothless ) As you all know, the Night Fury is the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself! We've let him live among us and now we will all pay the price!
Onyx glared at Mildew, and was holding his anger back, as he didn't want to make things worse, especially not in front Tida and the children of Berk.
Mulch: Well, it did seem as though the lightning struck right at the dragon.
Mildew: Yes! Right at the dragon! And a lightning storm the likes of which we've never had! There is but one thing for us to do! Banish the Night Fury! It's the only way! Thor is angry at us because of the Night Fury. You all saw it!
Onyx growled silently as some of the Vikings were murmuring among themselves.
Hiccup: What?! No!
Onyx: Do you hear yourselves! This is ridiculous!
Mildew: If we don't act now, well, need I remind you of.... Barnstat!
The Vikings gasped, while Mr and Mrs Thorston were giving the vikings around them disapproving stares as they didn't like how they were listening to Mildew of all people.
Stoick: You're right, all of you! Thor is angry, but I don't believe he's angry at Toothless.
Hiccup: That's right! Have you all forgotten what Toothless has done for this village?!
Mrs. Thorston: ( sternly, to the crowd: ) Listen to the Chief and his boy! May I remind you all that it's Mildew you are listening to?
Mr. Thorston shakes his head in disappointment at the crowd with his arms crossed.
Mildew: Well, then who else do you suppose he's angry at?
Stoick: I don't presume to know Thor's mind, Mildew. But we will find a way to soothe his anger.
When the crowd went back to what they were doing, Mrs. Thorston tripped Mildew when she and her husband walked past him with a mischievous smile, causing Tida to giggle.
Mrs. Thorston: Oopsie, clumsy me. Not really.
The Thorstons and Tida then walked off. Hiccup then get on Toothless, and looked at Astrid and Onyx.
Hiccup: Come on, we need to check on Meryl. She's terrified of lightning.
Onyx: That's what I was forgetting! SandStrikers hate lightning, and refuse to go... Oh.
Astrid: Let's go.
( At Meryl's house )
Astrid, Onyx, Hiccup, Stormfly, and Toothless arrived outside Meryl's hut to find that Fishlegs, the twins, and Snotlout were trying to talk Meryl into coming outside, she was talking to them from the other side of the front door.
Snotlout: Come on, Meryl! It's not that scary!
Meryl: LIES!
Hiccup: ( to Snotlout: ) Really? You do realize that you aren't helping.
Astrid: Meryl, it's alright, I'm sure the lightning will go away soon.
Onyx: ( lying to try to soothe Meryl's fear: ) It's really not that bad. It's mostly just a bunch of flashing lights.
Meryl doesn't say anything, she looks at them from a window and shake her head " no " at them. Onyx then gets an idea on how to get Meryl to come outside.
Onyx: Or you could stay inside if you want to look after Liv, I'd just hate to leave you behind on such a great night. There could be buttons laying around, there could be little jewels, ingots-
Meryl opened the door slightly and sternly glared at Onyx.
Meryl: Don't you talk down to me. I know what you're up to.
Hiccup pinched the bridge of his nose as he knew what Onyx was trying to do, and the other riders were trying to not laugh at Meryl's reaction.
Onyx: What are you talking about? It's a dark night. People leave shiny stuff out all the time.
Hiccup: ( to Meryl, calmly: ) For disclosure, I understand if you don't want to-
Meryl: He thinks I'm going to go outside during a lightning storm for some bloody buttons.
The twins bursted into laughter after Meryl said that, and Onyx continued what he was doing.
Onyx: I heard tales there was a button ship that crashed right into the shores of Berk-
Meryl: ( a bit sarcastically: ) Oh, the old button ship legend, really?! Oh! Buttonbeard the pirate?!
Everyone except Meryl and Hiccup were struggling to not burst out laughing like the twins.
Onyx: ( struggling to not laugh ) Yep.
Meryl: He had buttons for beards!
Hiccup: Meryl.
Meryl: Yes?
Hiccup: Would you feel better if I stayed to help you wait out the lightning storm?
Meryl: Yeah, it's better than... trying to trick me into going outside for bloody buttons!
