For the past few months Areum had been filming a movie. It was a movie about an apocalyptic world and she was one of the main characters. She played a brave leader who led her two friends through the world. Her character was tough and smart but when she meets a new survivor she changes. She runs into Han Soo-jin at the start of the movie, saving her from the monsters. At the end of the movie she is someone who can open up and admit when she's wrong, however the character who helped her become this version of herself dies at the end, which leaves her devastated as she had grown to love her. At the end she has a scene where she breaks down and shows her true talent.

Many many people loved the film but there was a few who didn't because the romance in it included two women and not a man and a woman, however the cast didn't care at all, especially Areum and Shin Yee-un. The two became very close and still spend time together. While the film had a few haters in korea it was extremely popular globally. It won many awards which only made people love and admire Areum even more.
