A month after the last events, life at the lookout and at Adventure Bay continued to move forward. Max and Skye continued with their life as a couple, Everest continued to work at Jake's resort rarely going to the river, Marshall put aside his love for Everest and focused on supporting Chase. Ryder continued his normal life between emergencies, rest, and creating new technology for his team. Finally the German Shepherd began to go to a psychologist who helped him a lot to endure and overcome his mental and emotional state, although sometimes Chase was not there and went crazy. But his situation had stabilized over the past month and Chase had also made peace with Rocky, Rubble and Zuma apologizing for his misbehavior.
It was the beginning of a new month in Adventure Bay, the coldest month of the year with colder days right in this period, temperatures could drop a lot, the roads had to be covered often with salt to prevent them from freezing and snow fell incessantly.
Chase as almost every morning went on patrol. The silence of Adventure Bay in the morning was magical and relaxing. He had begun to use the hour of patrolling to leave behind all the stress and anxieties of life at the lookout.
Him also began to forget about his love for Skye. In fact, thanks to his psychologist he had understood that he could no longer have Skye and had to find another puppy to love even if this was a terrible blow to absorb. The morning atmosphere of Adventure Bay was filled with silence. Hardly anyone was awake apart from Mr. Porter, who had to prepare his own meals, and a few others. Paved roads covered with snow were covered with salt early in the morning in order to avoid blocking traffic. The bay was frozen making it possible to walk on it, but this was not good for Captain Turbot who was unable to go out to sea with his boat.
Around the city a white expanse of snow covered the plains and hills. Mrs. Yumi's fields were frozen and Jake Mountain was totally covered in snow.
As usual, Chase found no abnormalities and returned to the lookout just in time to wake the pups for breakfast time.
After breakfast, Zuma gave her yoga class to the pups in place of Chase who was not there at the time. The German Shepherd had gone with his owner to the city psychologist, in fact, Ryder was updated weekly on the progress of Chase's therapy.
When they entered the studio, Ryder hung his hat and scarf on a coat rack and the psychologist let him into his study, while Chase sat on a small sofa and looked enjoying the warmth of the radiators.
"Good morning Doctor Lucas," Ryder said, shaking his hand.
"Good morning, sir Ryder. Please sit down," Lucas said, pointing to the chair in front of his desk.
Lucas is a man of about forty years old, with a robust body and quite tall. He wears a white shirt, black pants, and a pair of boots still a little dirty from the snow.Ryder sat down and asked, "Thank you for making me sit down. Anyway, how is the therapy going?"
"Well, Chase, from the first one who came here, has made great strides. He is forgetting his love for his old crush, he is learning to manage his emotions like anger or sadness, and he told me that he is going crazy much less than before," Lucas said.
"Thanks also to the prescribed medicines right?"
"Yes, medications are playing a big part in controlling his emotions but he will solve his love problem."
"And how exactly will he do it?"
"This is the second phase of therapy but I tell you that he will have to look for another partner, maybe a close friend of him, or introduce him to some puppy suitable for him. But there is a problem with that."
